IIRC they were diesel. The Allies used gasoline. Unfortunately for anyone trapped in a tank when it was hit.

I think lots of western merc-wannabe guys enlisted in the early stages for Ukraine and got used as cannon fodder while the Yooks trained and equipped their own people.
Anyone with any sense would avoid the Russian army. The latest is that the Russians no longer have hemostatic dressings or blood / plasma stocks. So if you take a wound in the Russian army, you now essentially bleed out and die.
