**Liveleak Note**

Apparently the Bosian police are now investigating this incident.

I doubt if the Bosnian police will do a thorough investigation into this matter. The thinking there is: Do not impose your western ideas on our have not society. I was told by a person that came from Croatia ( right next door to Bosnia ) that a woman told her that because they have substandard medical care she had 4 still born children. The next thing she said was ; "It is better this way, less mouths to feed ". She will get minimal punishment only because the video was shown on the internet and there was pressure from the international community.

It the Living Off the Land mentality. Animals are property for you to do with as you wished. We were Living Off the Land in Canada 60-80 years ago and treated animals differently at that time. China is quickly becoming industrialized and the ideas are changing. Bosnia / Croatia is still in the dark ages because nothing has changed in the last 60 years because of communism.

well the facts are she was arrested and under laws could at least face a huge fine, but her biggest problem is that this was posted on the net for many people to see, and her life I hope will be a living hell just like she made the lives of those defenceless creatures for the few seconds when they were drowning.

She killed animals. So what?
If she had killed human babies, then there should be an uproar.
But animals are merely property that can be bought and sold. So if you lose one, or one is killed, you simply go out and buy more.

I'm sure that in rural areas and farms it is normal practice to discard animals with whatever means.
What we can't see won't hurt us right?

However, when was the last time you saw a farmer videotape these life-ending acts and then post it online??

This young girl is a twisted individual who took the lives of these puppies and callously had it videotaped for her own entertainment and bragging rights to her friends!

Sick.....truly sick.

that is a despicable attitude to take. Those puppies were not merely property like a house or car, they were creatures with feelings and can experience pain and pleasure, they were expecting and needing her for their protection and survival, and thats how she showed it to them!!!! Also in many cases of serial killers they began torturing and killing animals at first, when that didnt prove enough of a thrill, they decided to kick it up a notch and start killing humans. Ted Bundy and Jeffery Dahlmer are 2 perfect examples of that.

One should be respectful towards all, especially those who are the most vunerable in society being children, animals and old people.

There is a certain hypocracy in all this outrage. Compare this to the conditions in slaughter houses for cattle and poultry, and then add to that the actual living conditions they had to endure every day. Anyone here like veal? Read up on what the young animals go through to attain that nice cutlet and you may not want to eat it again. It was a very callous and cruel thing this woman did but let's not fool ourselves. Strict vegetarians I apologize to in advance, and no I am not one myself.

Very true Asterix. As someone who doesn't eat meat I can openly criticize both.

scouser1 made some really great points about the bigger picture significance of this type of behaviour. The punishments handed out need to be very strict to send a message.

Very true.

But.....

You are comparing apples to oranges. Yes, they are both forms of animal cruelty. However, one is food, the other, well, I'm not sure what it was. Just wanton cruelty I suppose.

If I had to slaughter my own meat, I'd be a vegetarian for sure. As it is, I am conflicted. I won't eat veal though, and I definitely won't eat Fois Gras. (Though I have in the past, I don't anymore.)

I am also aware of how many animal suffer living in horrific conditions, or being transported inhumanely and freezing to death on route to the slaughter houses, or just die from neglect. It happens every minute of every day.

But the world doesn't need to be any crueler than it already is. What this girl did just made it that much worse of a place frankly.

I don't think I am comparing apples to oranges. The issue is animal cruelty. They are not going to distinguish between someone who is making their life a living hell based on intention. They just know it is hell. There are many companies who have open range conditions and treat their animals with decency. I try to buy from them but obviously it is more expensive. I read the book "Fast Food Nation" years back and it completely opened my eyes. This woman killed puppies, and people have a visceral reaction because they are considered our pets. We treat other animals far worse with barely a thought.

1st off Neither Croatia or Bosnia are comunist countries, been to both China and Croatia and Bosnia, and u could never compare China to Europe, China is Comunist Country, and Europe is very westernized place. I 've been to both. I would never go back to China. But getting back to the puppies, They are still living breathing creatures. I think she should be punished and fined. That is no way to get rid of a animal u don't want.

I'm not disagreeing with you.

I'm all for huge fines being levied against those in the meat industry who abuse farm animals. (Fines are the only thing I believe that people will understand.)

There was an article in the Globe and mail 2 or 3 months ago outlining the suffering of farm animals between the farm and the slaughterhouse and it was tragic. But you can bet that no-one will do fuck all to rectify it.

Here, I found that Globe and Mail article:

Canadians also want to know that the meat they eat comes from animals that did not suffer unduly, Ms. Matlow said. Statistics that the animal rights organization obtained from CFIA indicate that two million to three million animals die during transport every year and another 11 million arrive at their destination diseased or injured.

The greatest animal suffering observed in the study occurred on long journeys – especially in freezing weather. Canadian cows can be in transit for 52 hours without food, water and a rest break. In Europe, the standard is 12 hours.

It's a horror show to be sure.

But the girl in question made it just that much worse.
