The Lakers had to made this deal. Shaq isn't happy in LA anymore plus the end of year criticizm he took from the owner didn't help , the same shot Kobe took at him in the beginning of the year - Shaq shows up to camp poorly conditioned and overweight; which adds to his "injuries" ie - foot injury. He does nothing to improve his game ie- career 33% free throw shooter in the playoffs.
If it's a choice of keeping Shaq and losing Kobe - well, guess what? Kobe is younger and can serve the Lakers in the long run much more effectively than Shaq.
I think the Heat got hosed on that deal - the first round pick was too much for an aging ONeil.
Plus, Shaq is nowhere near the most dominant player in the league - he shares that with players like Duncan, but; by no means does he dominate the league.
