I don't why they're taking so long to to attack Rafah. There is no way any country will let Islamic terrorists like hamas get away with it, knowing that they will come back again and try to kill Israelis like October 7. Hamas grossly miscalculated when they attacked Israel and when asked about their civilians deaths, Hamas leaders said that they needed to sacrifice. barf
I don't know if hamas miscalculated it.
Counting on ultra left idiots proved to be a success for hamas internationally. And no attack on rafah only confirms it.

Why is it taking so long?
Because Rafah is home to 1 million refugees mostly living in tents.
600,000 are children.

Netanyahu can't stop the genocide or he'll be turfed from office so he needs to keep it going but he also knows attacking Rafah is too much even for Biden.
So he's stalling, declaring he's going to attack to keep his rivals happy and stalling to keep Biden happy.

But the ICC is coming.

I think the delayed attack is because they have the hostages, they're just waiting to find a way to free them. I can't see them not go in. And the support for hamas internationally is just from stupid leftists and Muslims that never integrated.

Most of the so called civilians participated with hamas in the massacre of October 7. Can't trust anything the Islamic terrorists say.

Students have always loved revolutions. That old Soviet playbook has now worked really well for islamists and all sorts of anti west ideologists.
I never thought they would achieve what they have achieved so far.
Poisoning of universities has happened on a massive scale.
I think it’s a huge success for Russia, China, Iran and whatever other scum participated in it.

They didn't do this when China, Iran was beating down on their people and those protesting on the streets against Russia were local Ukrainians.

No, its about Biden becoming Hubert Humphrey.

No. This tweet is a different argument entirely.

But sure, let's draw the Humphrey parallel.

As you know, Nixon sabotaged the peace talks Humphrey was working on and then escalated the war in Vietnam, keeping the US there for years longer than it would have.
And, more crucially, Humphrey lost primarily because he supported civil rights and Wallace and the South defected third party.
(Wallace's position on Vietnam is interesting.)

Nixon did run a lot on "see how the kids are out of control, we need law and order" though and it was very effective.
After all, most of the population approved of the police actions against the protesters.

Did Humphrey's position on the war hurt him?
Of course.
Especially how he got the nomination when there was a candidate with a different policy running.

There are definitely parallels, sure.
But - like most analogies - it's complicated.

Time is on Israel's side. They use it to make Hamas look unreasonable and to tighten their control on north and central Gaza - where apparently Hamas can no longer intifada or cause shit.

Israel can pick any time to take Rafah it wants, knowing that Hamas can do nothing more fearsome than instigate some dumb, entitled college kids to camp out at their university campuses and get themselves arrested by the riot cops.

I'll bow to you on the history, I assume that's one of your subjects.
There are never perfect comparisons and certainly I don't think the US has had such a wacked choice before.

Really, its a total waste.
Biden did some good policy work and should have had an easy reelection.
He should be supportable.

Except that the famine is in place and without the end of the genocide its been warned that 500,000 will die this summer.
That will be the memory of zionism.

I agree, but a lot of turmoil in Israel between government members threatening to make the government fall. and US pressure. Hamas will use again human shields, not a good situation. (as you know)

Authoritarian institutions are always terrified of protests

And, if you recall, the Civil Rights protests were disliked by the American people.
The story of "The Civil Rights protests were great and everyone realized they had to change" is complete bullshit.
They were contentious and even within the movement had lots of people trying different things and having different end goals.

Just think about how people remember Rosa Parks today and compare that to her actual life and activism.

The fact that the protestors have occupied university lands for over a week, were finally told to disburse, that they harassed and blocked access to anyone who didn't share their extremist views and that they broke into university buildings and pillaged them to create fortifications had nothing to do with the administration calling in the cops to clear them out.

It was all - clearly, totally and blatantly - just anti Arab racism. Yup. Gotcha.

If Jews did that shit, you'd be whining that the cops should clear out the "zionists" on minute 5 of Day 1.
