Thanks for a great posting, Rigel. I really appreciate your tips. They may seem like common sense to most folks, but when you are just learning to have a separate identity from your "real life" one, old habits can die hard, and it's hard to think of everything.

I don't understand why any SP would give a negative comment in this thread (sorry Jess and Twinkle; you both know me and know I'm not putting you down... I am disagreeing with you, but I respect you both!). You may decide that Rigel's advice doesn't apply to you, and I respect that and I'm glad you consider yourself safe. But please, don't give someone a hard time for giving good and valuable advice.
There was no question of getting the jollies. I have seen too many SP's go through hell because of assholes. For example, Callista, Erin and a few other local ones that are still around under different environments. You need to protect your personal stats so that some idiot doesn't take advantage of you.

I think Rigel's post IS a good reminder for girls who get carried away and start to blend the friends/clients thing. I honestly had no idea my comment was negative...it was basically saying I see what he wrote and given my stats and experience it doesn't necessarily apply to every girl. In my case yes it was common sense the way I run things (separate phone, separate emails, never using facebook, etc).
Rigel, I think it's awesome a hobbiest has the best interest of the ladies in mind, and not for personal gain. You never know what a person's motives are, even years after knowing them and building a trust. I'm sure the ladies reading this thread again will appreciate the advice to keep personal and SP lives separate.

Jamie I think you are a very professional woman and I respect your opinion too!! Again sorry for everyone's misinterpretation of my earlier comment, it was not meant to challenge what Rigel was implying.

I agree

for the most part with Rigel. A person has to protect their privacy if their privacy is threatened in any way. And yes in this business we are always guarded. Depending on the volume of clients you see.
I have known Rigel for several years. Once as a client and now I occasionally go to lunch with him. He is very sincere with his intentions. I don't think he would go forth to hurt or hunt for info on false pretenses.
When I was in the business I tried to hide all my personal info from anyone I was seeing. There was only one occasion that a noisy client riffled through my things, over stayed his welcome and under paid. That was the only time he got to see me. He called several times but I always recognized his voice and turned him away due to his disrespect of our one encounter.
I still see a few people for lunch or dinner (both having knowledge to the same info on each other acquired over the past years) and there is that thing called "trust", which sometimes is very hard to come by and maintain in the aftermath

I don't understand why anyone would flame the guy for posting this warning...just watch the news everyday and see how easy it is for criminals to steal your identity!! Safety issues aside-do you really want to wake up one day to find out someone has accumulated several thousands of dollars of debt in your name??? Everything he posted can be used against not only the SPs but clients as well....welcome to the digital age of crime !! Once on the internet, impossible to remove .....
