Man what a shame. Truly a unique individual and a ridiculously talented musician, singer and songwriter. When Doves Cry is in my top 3 songs of the 80's. RIP.

One of my favourite performers...he still put it down on his newer albums. To remain fresh, current and totally unique for so long is a remarkable feet. I'm glad I got to see him in concert...simply spectacular. He will always be iconic to me.

I know he had the flu and recently made a trip to the hospital, but they said he was found collapsed in an elevator. I wouldn't be surprised if he died of a heart attack. Time will tell...

This site says he was HIV/aids positive since the 90s

Sadly Prince Rogers Nelson has passed away today aged 57 allegedly of AIDS. Sources say he contracted HIV in the 90's which he kept private. He turned his faith to the Jehovah Witness religion who have strong views on medicine and believed God can cure. HIV/AIDS has yet to be confirmed officially as the cause of death.

Prince has had a very weakened immune system over the past weeks, with those close to him reporting he had the flu. More details on his condition are no doubt forthcoming. His plane made an emergency landing recently due to a sick passenger, presumably the rockstar himself. Witness reports had Prince pacing a parking lot at his studio last night, looking worried and upset about something.

Gotta respect a guy that can play 30 instruments! Was blown away by his super bowl show, that's talent your born with you can't buy that. Have a friend in radio & she got to hear him rehearse at Copps a few years back & said he was a perfectionist & more than a little eccentric. For a guy that wrote a song Red Corvette, he certainly didn't like anything red. Wouldn't sing a word until they moved the Zamboni out that was red! He wasn't happy with the sound of the almost three hour first nite of the tour so he made the band rehearse at like 2 in the morning until he thought the sound was right. But that's probably what made him so good. RIP with the rest of the greats up there...

New info about Prince:

Prince treated for drug overdose days before death

http://www.tmz.com/2016/04/21/prince-treated-drug-overdose-dead/

I had read that he changed his lifestyle since he became a JW in 2010.
So I'm surprised to hear that he was doing drugs. Could he have been a heroin addict? (he was given a "save shot" to counteract opiates).
Heroin addiction is a big problem for many people now.
If that's the case, it breaks my heart. I love to see musicians as they grow old. You know Prince would still have rocked it when he was 80!

If he was born with epilepsy then the AIDS rumour is false.

Whatever became of his consort Sheila E? She is the daughter of percussionist Jamie Escovedo an original member of The Santana Band.

I've just done a background check and Sheila E eventually was part of Carlos Santana's band. I wonder if Prince attend Carlos's guitar master class when he was growing up? Considering Carlos's pedigree as a music teacher, it's possible.

.........
Certainly more talented as a musician, singer, and songwriter, musical innovator.
Listen to his vocals on songs like Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, the instruments all usually played by him.
Maybe MJ beat him in the charisma department and dancing.
I think that MJ had much more of a supporting cast but Prince did most things himself.....
I agree IMO, Prince was way more talented than MJ
