Imho we have had enough chances for everybody who is old enough to get the vaccine in Ontario. Unless the hospitals get overwhelmed again, or unless a new and vaccine-resistant Covid variant is the cause, I see no reason for further lockdowns in case of another surge.

The vaccinated should not have to suffer financially and mentally for the idiocy of the non-vaccinated.

“This in common” = ‘Contracted a VOC.’ Not exactly breaking news.

Ignoring unpredictable mutations that have yet to happen or at-least been observed, the unvaccinated are becoming more and more responsible for the spread of COVID and will almost exclusively be those taking up ICU spaces, and forcing PH to continue require PPE and distancing precautions.

Stay safe out there ladies. Take necessary precautions if you need to work. Covidiots are not worth the risk.

It's not a thing about the fall. Already starting to go back up in the states.

Is it surprising that eliminating restrictions and lower vaccinations rates would cause this?

No, and the unfortunate thing is that it is going up everywhere because even states with good vaccination rates have large pockets of unvaccinated people to act as transmission reservoirs.
The thing to keep an eye on now is the death and hospitalizations. If those aren't also going to start steeping up, things are not as bad as you might fear.

The concern is that amongst the unvaccinated covid will continue to be spread and that these pockets of the community will become Petrie dishes in which new variations of covid that are resistant to the vaccines develop and spread.

Covidiots will kill all of us.

Actually it's quite possible that the vaccinated people are the ones spreading new variants. There only one variant before vaccines and now there's several different variants because the virus is trying to survive with vaccinated people.

So thanks Dickhead.

U.K Govt’S SAGE Advisors: “The combination of high prevalence and high levels of vaccination creates the conditions in which an immune escape variant is most likely to emerge.”

Antibody-dependent enhancement and SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and therapies

Abstract
Antibody-based drugs and vaccines against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are being expedited through preclinical and clinical development. Data from the study of SARS-CoV and other respiratory viruses suggest that anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies could exacerbate COVID-19 through antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE). Previous respiratory syncytial virus and dengue virus vaccine studies revealed human clinical safety risks related to ADE, resulting in failed vaccine trials. Here, we describe key ADE mechanisms and discuss mitigation strategies for SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and therapies in development. We also outline recently published data to evaluate the risks and opportunities for antibody-based protection against SARS-CoV-2.

And can you understand what that means in the context of the SAGE advice?

Yup. It was a subject of major discussion early on in the pandemic and throughout development of the vaccines.
That's one of the advantages of the distributed scientific approach - lots of people talking about it means it gets taken into consideration during development and followed up closely.
Things are very positive on the ADE front.
