I know I'm going to sound old but hip hop started to decline around 2000 for me the 90s was the best stuff.

100% accurate statement. :thumb:

Love this one at the clubs, damn good to dance to.
LOL, back in the day some people were not aware that this entire song is about a dude getting a hard-on because he is dancing very close to a female.

Great song.

"I wonder if she could tell I'm hard right now"

"Baby, when we're grindin', I get so excited
How I like it, I try but I can't fight it
Oh, you're dancin' real close, 'plus it's real, real slow
You're makin' it hard for me"

"Step back, you're dancin' kinda close
I feel a little poke comin' through on you"

lol so true.
I remember someone telling me to listen to the lyrics and I thought, damn. That's the one line that "sticks" out.
So, of course, anytime I heard it, I karaoked that bitch on the floor. :biggrin1:

In the interest of keeping this thread alive, I'm curious about everyone's favorite emcees. I know it's always a controversial topic, but here are mine (in no particular order):

Nas, Mos Def, Rakim, Pharoahe Monch, GZA, Bahamadia, Andre 3000, Kool G Rap, Ras Kass, Canibus

Another good mix mash up...biggies part is very raw and fits so well...

I am glad I went through this phase still maintain some street smarts from it back from the 90s...smoking weed every day...getting high in the washroom during religion class buying and smoking bricks over weekends, can't believe majority of the kids at my highschool would get high...yup it helps shape who we are now, especially dealing with some of the people we meet from this adult industry.

I don't think it's controversial to have a favourite emcee list. When you get into who you think are the greatest that's when it get's controversial. I'll give 3 lists - my 10 faves, 10 best and 10 most underrated

Fav - Guru, Chuck D, Biggie, Rakim, Nas, Jay Z, Ghostface, Jadakiss, Big Daddy Kane, Eazy E
Best - Biggie(G.O.A.T.), Rakim, Nas, Big Daddy Kane, KRS One, Tupac Shakur, Scarface, Jay Z, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Kool G Rap (hon mention)
Underrated - Del The Funkee Homosapien, Pharoahe Monch, Jeru the Damaja, Masta Ace, The D.O.C., PMD, Kool Keith, Prodigy,MC Ren, CL Smooth

If Big Pun and Big L lived long enough they both would have contended for the top 10.

You have great taste Mr.Douglas. I'd list Ghostface, Jada, Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, BIGGIE, Pharoahe Monch, Rakim and Keith Murray as my favs. Crazy how underrated Jeru and Pharoahe Monch are though.

Thanks. I'm a huge hip hop head. I love how you listed Keith Murray - he easily could have made my top 10 underrated list. One of my fav tracks of his was this

The most beautifulest vocabulist punching phony emcees dead in the esophagus. Dope!

Amerie has one of the sweetest voices I've ever heard. Very easy on the eyes too. If anyone knows a SP/MPA that resembles her hit me up.
