Right now GM & Ford have their best quality ratings ever, practically equal to the imports and much cheaper in cost to buy and repair. The best bargains are with these two companies right now!....
Sure whatever makes you happy bob

LOL!
Back in the 50s-60s most cars had 'Hood Ornaments.' Pontiac's hood ornament was one with the indian head of Chief Pontiac on all Pontiac cars. Cars back then had more trim and character to set them apart from others. Then alas, the myopic beancounters took control, swinging their 'cost cutting axes' and hood ornaments were chopped off from cars to save a few pennies or a buck here, a penny there. Since the beaners took over the BIG 3, it was all downhill....
Before the demise of the hood ornament....They actually went to an ornament that bent over in a pedestrian collision, so it wouldn't protrude into the person's gut.

JD Power is bullshit.

All they do is survey new car buyers.

"Are you happy with your new car?"

Why yes I am

"Would you consider it a good quality vehicle?"

Why yes I would

"Would you buy another one?"

I certainly would.

Until they start releasing statistics as to break-downs, none of what JD Power publishes is worth a damn. Purely annecdotal.

In the early 80's an AC DELCO rebuilt starter was around 45 bucks
That's 30 years ago, and certainly not in Canada.

Installed was typically $200.00 for a 4 door Olds Cutlas. (I know, we had one and my dad always went for the cheap aftermarket rebuilds and he needed a new one every 6 months cause the rebuild quality was so poor. I think they used to just clean off the inch of grease, file the brushes and put it back together.)

Yes, but imports break down less than domestics.
Yeah them Mac fanboys say the same about their Macs as they merrily go off and pay double and triple for a Mac compared to a PC!....:D

FWIW

Been happily driving B3 for over 40 yrs with no plans to switch to imports. Overall have had little problems with those B3 but having some mechanical background am able to spot and correct minor problems before they become major. Have owned ~18 B3 vehicles in that time span, I like cars and variety and if anything went wrong, in 97% of the time occurred under warr.

B3 vehicles today are constructed better than ever, they last!
One of the best vehicles I ever owned a '92 Pontiac Transport SE van was just put in the boneyard a couple months ago with ~230,000 miles, by its third owner who still loved it.
However if YOU know little or nothing about vehicle repair it IS EASIER THAN EVER to be ripped off by crooked repair shops today. They blame it on B3 crap and people believe it, as they pick your pocket....

Yet the total market for 'professionals' is probably less than a tenth of 1% of what the film market used to be, so it really has no bearing on Kodak's current sales. I work in the printing industry, who used to be a major consumer of film of all types - and it's all gone. I don't have the numbers, but I would imagine Kodak's 'good-times' sales were something like 40% consumer, 30% industry and 10% professionals and film-makers. Now, they are fighting over the 10%, and losing...

Well, Super 16mm filmed vanished after the SR3, then came the 416, then Super 16 came on a comeback..

I'm talking industry only, I really don't care about consumer, since consumer does not effect me. I'm talking "Motion Picture" here. No it's not gone, it will probably get better. As long as Steven Spielberg is using Film, it's all good.
