He died in the line of duty doing what he was trained to do. Much respect.

Anybody who fires on the police shouldn't see the light of day for a long long time

The killing of a police dog should be treated very seriously.

That is just your own Blue Lives Matter, culture war right there. Stop turning a police dog being killed into a right wing culture war outrage deal. lol.

BTW anyone who fires on the police shouldn't see the light of day for a long time? What about police who shoot unarmed black men? Why do you oppose punishing them?

You'd argue that a dog is more important than black people?

@Fugly Considering you couldn't even quote my post properly, I'll reserve that award for you. I wasn't inaccurate in reading between the lines in what The Oracle said.
Some people you just know the agenda behind their posts. That is exactly what he meant. Which is fine, have your opinion but be prepared for you to be called out for caring about the political aspect over the actual officers.

Here’s something I learned as a 19 year old kid. Take it, for what it’s worth.

My Father wore blue. When he died I didn’t care about the dress uniforms, the white gloves shaking my hands. Didn’t care about the dress parade on Danforth Avenue. Didn’t care about the the details about the why or how. Not by whose hands, or what races, or whichever/whatevet. I didn’t care that some called him a “hero”.

I cared that he was dead.

That was almost 40 years ago.
40 Christmases without my dad.
40 birthdays without my dad.
Marriage, my own kids, my divorce. No dad for advice.
No dad, on a day like today to have a cold beer with…

I bet, if you ask the wives and kids of most people. Whether blue, black, yellow, or green. They don’t really care how/why either.

Here is my thoughts and I'm sure some people won't like it.
It was a dog.
Doesn't matter if it was a police dog or not.
The person who shot the dog is a piece of shit because of past crimes.
He will probably get more jail time for shooting a police dog than the careless dog owners whos dogs maul and seriously injury people get. Which is just about zero punishment.

I think people who have been unjustly shot or killed by the police do care how and why their loved one was killed as much as they care about the fact that they were killed.
I think that was also the point I was trying to get across.

“I bet, if you ask the wives and kids of most people. Whether blue, black, yellow, or green. They don’t really care how/why either.”

And I can you ( not you specifically) first hand. We don’t care. Who, how or why. There’s only one thing we care about.

other people “care”.

Better it than an officer.
True.
But is there a difference between shooting any old dog in a park, and a service dog?

I acknowledge I will view some things differently. One person in this thread pointed one thing out. It’s all over the 6 o’clock news. The murder of a police dog….Quite emotional that, guaranteed to pull at strings..That cuts both ways…and .I don’t care, didn’t today, didn’t then. Other people “care”…..

Kautilya mentioned “when some black kid is unjustly”… happens way too often. Anyone think it’s any easier the flip side? I suppose one difference is that few cops wake up in the am with murder on their minds. Actual criminals with no respect for the law, the uniform, the institution…..pretty much every time a cop is seriously hurt or killed. It’s “unjust”..

In the end, to me, just a sign of the times. The public is losing the public trust. Not good.

You are going to milk your father's death for a dog?

You had 19 years with your father, other people like me had 0 years.

You can choose to think/assume what ever you like. Doesn’t mean you’re remotely close. As always it’s says more about you.

Just as I can choose to think/whatever about you and your motives……maybe I just don’t care what you think…

…..Can say, if you haven’t noticed there’s a fair bit of um……

Well, perhaps if more black people didn‘t raise their children in an environment that taught them to disrespect, disobey and kill the police in the name of “systemic racism” fewer black people would be shot by the police.

As for the fellow that shot the dog; anyone who discharges a weapon in public has shown a willingness to kill. They should be stood against a wall and shot because they are unfit to be in society and reforming them is a waste of scarce resources.

If this is what you literally and truly feel, the rest of your post should be ignored as well.

I am a little curious about the heroism of these K-9 police agents. Do the dogs really recognize the danger of a firearm ? Does the enthusiasm behind going for the gun the same as when I ask my dog to catch the frisbee?

If Bingo knew that he could die going after the gun, maybe he would sit down look at his armed buddy and motioned - 'You first !'
