Every freaking Dollarama and No Frills I've been to has this issue.

Someone's helped themselves to a bag for the other stuff they're gonna help themselves to. Some version of it happens in every store, but you're less likely to notice as you move upmarket where actual people do what signs cannot.

My fave in this line is the Canadian Tire sign that says "Don't spray the paint, the lid is the colour". Of course as it's the best place to spray, it's covered in paint.

They put that there because there are may low class low trash customers that open packages and take what they want (i.e., shoplifting). I've seen this quite a bit in more urban/poorer areas, especially with immigrants (the only people I've witnessed stealing were all immigrants fresh off the boat). I even bought a Swiffer from Zellers only to get home to find someone had opened the package, taken the brush out, and then put back on the shelf.

I was at Dollarama the other day and probably half of the ziplock bag boxes had been ripped open and pilfered from.

As a result, I've started shopping in "better" areas of town.

Time to re-introduce beatings to teach shoplifters a lesson. You're a pretty sad individual if you're shoplifting from Dollarama...

Since this is such a reocurring problem happening in every freaking store, I once gave a suggestion to a Dollarama manager: place such items next to the counter, where staff can see them.

Those appear to be one of the few items that are violated that way.

I believe this is not shoplifting, but some sort of vandalism.

Kids who do that on purpose.
