A very slow and quiet Thursday (6/12) afternoon at the 'Mate. Arrived about 1:30 to a club with more dancers than patrons but by 2:30 there was a bit more activity.

Noticed Ashley, Alysson, Martia, Summer, Delicious, Vegas, Samantha, Sunshine and (new to me) Victoria along with a few others. A couple of somewhat familiar ebony ladies arrived mid-afternoon.

The new(ish) DJ - I haven't been in for a bit more than a month - was on duty with the easy-to-understand elocution that I remembered.

Overall a fairly dull day at 175 - always hate to see such a slow atmosphere with the dancers not doing too well. To be fair, there was some traffic to the CR and a number of regular patrons had visits with their faves.

Well, when I first arrived my fave table was taken so I parked in the far corner beside the raised area, but when the two gents occupying my regular spot left, I relocated there - first table in the first row of the raised area across from the stage.

Yes, it is our duty as patrons to support these lovely artists.

The state of the 417 has made crossing the city a bit awkward for me, but no excuses -- I still have to meet Martia, Vegas, and now, Victoria.

Another less-than-busy Thursday (6/19) afternoon at the 'Mate. Arrived around 2:15 and the atmosphere was very quiet. There was a brief flurry of activity around 3:00-3:30 but then things simmered down again.

Over the course of the afternoon, saw Alysson, Ruby, Ella, Lolita, Delicious (who looked great in a one-piece I've never seen her in before), Kate (looking lovely), Olivia (also looking terrific and visiting the CR with her Tuesday regular on Thursday), Vegas (stunning today on and off stage), Victoria and a few others. Could not help noticing that Kate removed neither top nor bottom in either of her stage dances - perhaps this was because she wanted to adjourn directly to the CR with her stageside admirer, rather than having to put her outfit back on after her second stage dance.

Again, I was a bit concerned to see the club so quiet/slow but, as on my last visit, there was a moderate amount of traffic to the CR.

Left around 5:15 and noticed a Lamborghini Huracan (a blue coupe) rolling noisily past the club eastbound. Montreal Rd. continues to be a Lambo magnet.

Kate never takes anything off on stage anymore. I don't know if she tipped the dj to overlook this rather basic element of stripping or if the new(er) staff don't want to tangle with her. Either way, it is starting to rub off on other girls and I notice it more and more. I guess we'll have to start complaining to Denise (who will do exactly nothing) or Anita each time we see it. Making us the bad guys.

I was there last week and noticed that too. I mean neither top or bottom came off, which seemed strange. I wonder if they all started doing that, how that would go over, I suspect a quick uproar. Doesn't seem to make sense to me why she isn't getting fully nude, but you may be right, no one there is willing to stand up to her. I have occasionally seen others leave the bottom on, but even that is rare.

This is a trend that the club owner or manager should cut off at the knees. There are clubs south of the border where this is the standard and then the girls approach you and say that if you want to see me naked, you have to pay. Just one more upsell that is not needed. This is a strip club and I have paid the cover charge and paid for the over priced beer so that I can see some nudity.

Had a rare Saturday night at PM and it was mostly dead til very late and still not that busy. A few pretty effed up girls and a glorious ebony named Asia. Didn't like the atmosphere as much as afternoons. Should of checked out 77 instead.

I haven't been to any strip bar for many months as I have found a much better alternative which doesn't cost me anything at all. I wish I knew about dance bars before and how great and satisfying they could be so that not to have wasted best fifteen years of my life in what I see as houses of exploitations (by both sides) I started tapering off visits to SCs gradually and about 6 months ago cut it off completely. In my view it is like a drug or alcohol or tabaco addiction. One cannot give it up suddenly.

In my last visits I noticed this trend (dancers not taking off panties) too more so at Barefax and less so at Playmates but it appears they have changed their place now and is more so at Playmates. It started noticing this 7 or 8 years ago at Pigales and when I wrote about it here I was criticized and called panty police maybe rightly so as one may say it is always the lady's choice, however, if I work for a company I cannot say I don't do the job I am hired for because it violates my right to choose. It is a controversial topic.

In a positive way, it was frustrations at strip bars especially those in Ottawa that made me look for alternatives and I am happy now they did happen. Waiting after a long break for a dancer on stage and waiting anxiously for her third song and then the dancer thinking she works for a topless bar rather than strip bar not taking off. Not to mention dancers approaching and asking me to buy them drinks or on rare occasions when I was taking them to CR then playing all kind of tricks so that I keep them longer (like not taking off their panties for 2 or even 3 songs in more recent visits) not to mention they were miscounting the number of dances (for some dancers 2 means 3 and 3 means 5). I was out by few hundred dollars for a visit and more stressed out than when I entered the bar.

They ( managers, owners and dancers) are shooting themselves in the foot by all these. Less and less customers will comes to their bars (it shows now from most of reviews saying the bar was dead even on Fridays and Saturdays)and sooner or later they will all have to close down. But again this may be a good thing.

Thanks for the likes for above posts gentlemen.
A friend asked by PM to let him know of the places that I go I spent a lot of time to respond to him and then I said to myself why not share it with everyone. This too is like the strip bars reviews I was doing for two decades with names, places, age range and cost.

Generally speaking Ottawa is quiet and dance bar are no match for those in Montreal or Toronto but we have to make the best of what we have.
Depending on your age

1 - Laff on York street - no cover charge on Saturdays , inexpensive, mature patrons between 25 to 65.

2 - House of Targ on Bank street - $12 cover charge mature patrons, large dance floor, mature between 20 to 65

Under 30 if don't mind younger girls

3- Club 27 on York street - rather expensive between $20 to $40 cover charge but drink is optional. Good parties on Fridays and Saturday. Majority are younger crowd but mature ones too.

4 - Sky Lounge on York street. Modest pricing large dance floor. Lot of girls between 19 to 30 but a lot of young guys around 19 to 20 but open t everyone.

5 - Lookout on York street- If you don't have anything against LGBTQ community. Modest pricing. Sometimes young and pretty girls there who like men too.

6 - Tropika on Clarence street - if you like ebony women, Saturdays after 11 pm about $10 cover charge

7 - Brooklyn on Clarence street also after 11 pm best on Saturdays about $10 cover charge

8 - City at nights - $25 cover, drinks are expensive and younger crowd up to 30 something.

Please note that how much fun you will have is very much YMMV.

If you are in your 20's or 30's, don't make the same mistake I did. Don't get addicted or quit it and make the change now. I regret all those years spanning almost two decades.

And please if you know of a good dance bar that I haven't listed please share it with me. I am looking for more good dance bars.

Happy Canada Day. Bless our homeland forever.

A late afternoon/early evening visit to the 'Mate on Friday (6/27). Arrived about 6:00 and the club was quite busy and noisy but then really emptied out around 6:30 and the 'dead zone' atmosphere was in effect.

Saw Katrina, Jamie, Samantha, Lola, Kate, Bianca, Ella, Robyn and a few others. Noticed Mia standing at the bar (and looking very pretty) in street clothes but then she went up the stairs with a gent after a short while.

Departed a little after 7:00 as a fave dancer could not make it in.

Great ideas and excellent life advice for anyone, young or older.

That is an extensive list of dance clubs, the only thing I can think of to add:
The Nature Nocturne dance nights at the Museum of Nature can be a blast:
https://nature.ca/en/visit-us/whats-on/listing/nature-nocturne/

And if you're into heavier music, Brass Monkey and some of the market watering holes like the Dominion will have great dance floors/mosh pits with a mix of people of all ages.

And of course the Playmate is always fun to meet lovely ladies, but one shouldn't get addicted, especially if they're young and single!

Boat Cruise on Ottawa River are fun too, drinks and dance all night while watching the fireworks.

Afrobeat and Latino party are the best!
