Ive heard it reported (rightly or wrongly) that PK wants 5.5 for 5 years. Only what is being reported in the news just as how we hear what the Habs are offering. You never know til its all over i guess
Doug Maclean ( Fan590 ) mentioned Meehan was asking for $6 m + and 5 yrs

Fair deal. The key for PK is next year's $3.75M. That will become the baseline for a long term deal after next season.

While gcostanza outlines a pretty fair case in comparison to several other players of a simillar age - of which only Doughty can be said to have provided great ROI (and only recently) - this an argument the agent would likely make - however the fact that other organzations have gambled all-star level maoney on players who have not yet demonstrated a 4 or 5 year track record of durability and consistently great play, should not have cause the Canadiens to back down from bucking the trend.

PK Subban's two-year deal with the Habs will pay him $2 million this season (pro-rated) and $3.75 million next year.

Not a bad deal for both sides.

I guess you know as fact that Subban was actually asking for what was reported.
I think the team started that rumour.

+1. There were also rumours that PK turned down $4M+/yr over 5 years. Don't believe everything you read/hear.

Well as I stated earlier, how else would one know other than whats being reported? It was never denied. He took what the team has been offering all along....according to reports. Until I hear differently its what it is. You are making assumptions what might be. Im at least basing it on what has been reported

Your reasoning is flawed. The $4.5M/yr for 5 years that he 'turned down' was never denied either.

Not at all flawed just basing what I said on what is being reported. Im sure its hard for fans to admit but he bailed and sold out. But he did get what he deserves. Nothing more, nothing less. Its a good deal for all. Just not what he was holding out for. He lost the battle :(

Again you are taking as fact what the media reports. You could end up with egg on your face.

Was it ever denied by Subban or his agent ? No, but it also was never confirmed.
I still believe it was start/leaked by someone within the Montreal organization in an attempt to take away from Subban's popularity among Montreal fans. We are talking Montreal afterall, the organization which openly threw it's own coach under the bus several times last season.

In any event, I hope they keep up with this sort of bargaining with their players. It will make them(the players) perfer to leave when they become FAs.
Subban will be FA eligible in five seasons.

Sure I am its how we get our info most of the time. but you are just assuming/guessing what might have happened. i think there is more legitimacy with how Im basing my opinion than you just guessing. And as if PK or THe Habs will come out and say what was what. Its why we have hockey insiders to get in there and get us the deets. Dont you trust McKenzie, Dreger and the boys? I do

McKenzie, I don't trust as far as I can throw the fat prick. He's a pompous blowhard.

Dreger is a puppet for the league.

First do not forget/ignore that I DID NOT dismiss your theory, just questioned you taking as fact without any possiblity of knowing for sure.

Now ... McKenzie no, but he does have his moments.
Dreger I can take or leave.

I do not know anything as fact, but I will not ignore what I heard from a SPORTSCASTER(team started rumour :blah:). I just can see the team, that throws coaches under the bus, doing something like leaking false info.

You, Mojo, sound like a Montreal die-hard fan.

McKenzie used to love to say 'my son played with him' when he spoke of Andrew Cogliano. His son, Mike, had a very unusual skating style. I saw him play alot of Tier 2.

and Subban didnt play last night because?
Because he only recently signed ? Just a guess.

LOL OMG i thought you were a die hard Habs fan. Anyway its all hearsay I guess and as ive said all along im going by what is reported not what i think. Its all we have really. Unfortunately. Anyway either way PK got paid and Habs got a good dman. I think it works out for all. I hate the Habs and PK so not really sure why i care lol

PK got a bit of a cold shoulder from markov and gorges when he got back. Told to think about the team more.
Maybe this will give him a "slap on the head" and realilize that hockey is a team sport. He may be a good player, but must check his ego and think of team first.

An opinion from a long-time Habs fan!!!!!!
