What are your thoughts? I have mixed feelings about this. What happens to those radars outside school hours? How much over do you have to be before you get that ticket in the mail? I see this as a very slippery slope. Today it's school zones, tomorrow who knows?
If there going to roll photo radar province wide they should allow people to use radar detectors. Next time I go cross boarder shopping I'm buying one.
Why is it legal in Alberta and BC and not the rest of Canada?

A politician saying they are only 'putting in the tip' somehow doesn't install confidence that it will not end up a deep and energetic f*cking of the tax payer.

I don't mind for the school zone - if I could trust them not to expand the program. They can only charge the car (owner) with no demerit points since they can't prove who is driving.

If it makes ppl drive more safely then i'm all for it. If it generates cash for the province that works too.

I have no problem with a revenue tool that only nails people people endangering kids (though it is laughable when they use 'in a school zone' at 3:00 AM).
So, if its not children, then disobeying the posted speeds is ok?

Here's a thought people

Observe the speed limits posted!where ever they are
It aint fucking rocket science people..holy fuck!
The more Cameras on the streets the better
if you dont want to obey the posted speed limits...Take a fucking bus!

???

In school hours speed limits are lower (usually 40) and outside school hours limits are higher (usually 50)

What "slippery slope" is there???

WTF is a "photo radar detector" lmao, good luck finding one in the US
I can only assume you mean radar detector, the majority of which are useless

It's a cash grab and a fuck job for citizens. Hope K.W. liked her job because photo radar pretty much killed the NDP and Bob Rae. For the most part.

Like you said, once in, it will spread like a weed. We need to stand up and say NO, collectively.

I am 100% for anything that helps protect children.
No matter what the inconveniences are for drivers, if it saves one child's life, it's worth it.

I've seen some real a**hats speeding through school zones, and I'm not talking just a few kms over the limit.

Most of the speed limits are set arbitrarily & are too slow.
It irks me when you have a 4 lane main artery with few business driveways & no houses fronting on & they set the limit
At 50 kph. Can you say speed trap?

If they would raise them where it is safe to do so, then I could accept PR.
If they set the PR in School Zones for when the schools are operating plus a little extra morning & after school, then it would be reasonable.
To have it on at all times & then beat the child safety drum is a cash grab that will spread.

In many school zone places in the US , the speed may be 40mph when schools are closed & strict enforcement of 20mph during operating days.

Does photo radar work in the dark (like at 3PM when it is dark and the kids are leaving school)?
I guess you have never heard of a device called a "flash" that is often used with cameras. They had it back when the province was using photo radar.

Easy to say when you don't own a car.

I would be surprised if even 1% of drivers never speed.

You want to keep kids safe?
Arrest speeders in kids zones. Those morons in Wynne and Tory call these speeders criminals? How about the fucking national security issue with terrorism?
Don't fucking use this to bleed drivers.
For you idiots who think social justice and gender equality is more important than our national deficit, national security, the environment, then keep these cunts in power and cry over your Hillary loss.

If there are many like you who will only obey the law and drive safely because you're afraid of enforcement, then detectors should most definitely be banned.

Just obey the law. Get the law changed if you don't like it. That's why we have democracies

Why, So you can drive as fast as you like wherever you choose. It'll cost you nothing if you drive like an adult; as a start you might try discussing it like an adult.

Who could object to making criminals, sociopaths and scofflaws pay extra?
