DJ absolutely crushed the field I'm happy for him. He didn't let that collapse at the 2015 U.S. Open fuck his game up. Had a great 2016 and now a good start in 2017.With his win today, Dustin Johnson ascends to #1 in the world for the first time in his career. With his extreme length and yet accuracy off the tee. and a game from 100-150 yards that his improved from a weakness to one of the best on the tour, this is not that much of a surprise.
Johnson's rise to #1 is much more of the classic path to #1 than what we had seen in recent years. Young guys like Jordan, Rory, and Day reached #1 at a young age -- as did Tiger Woods. But the majority of the players that reached #1 did it close to 30 or in their 30's -- Westwood, Donald, Vijay Singh, Duval... most of the players Pre-Tiger.
One player who never reached #1 in the world - Phil Mickelson.
Playing very solid. Up by 3.Adam Hadwin can guarantee 2018 card with solid finish but if he gets second or better he'll get into top 64 and the Match Play! He's having himself a solid start this year and with Hearnsie and DeLaet having not so great years, it's good to see Taylor, Hughes and Hadwin backing them up!
He would qualify for Augusta.Playing very solid. Up by 3.
I don't have him in the top 64 after this week with a 2nd place finish. I calculated around 67. But with people not showing 67th may get him in. A tie for 2nd would not be enough.
But even better would be a win which would put him in the low 50s. Once you get into the top 50 you can get into almost any tournament you want including the majors
+1...!!!! 3 Canucks at the masters, one more and they can go curling...That was tense. He really only had one bad hole with the drive on 16. Cantlay played very well, but it is a game of mistakes and he made his on 18.
Congrats to Hadwin.
Yes he is definitely in the masters. But he is #51 after the win. Just has to keep playing fairly well to stay in the top 50. Top 50 gets you into British, us open, and all wgc eventsHe would qualify for Augusta.
