I've spent a week in St. Emilion, know the difference between chablis and cote de nuits (and cote de Beaune); I've had my share of Super Tuscans and can name the most famous Tuscan white wine; I know my barolos; and I own 4 bottles of Chateau Margaux, each of which are over 12 years old.

But expert, I'm not - not even close.

The "Merlot is for fat girls" is an old joke.

Actually, I'm amazed at true expertise with wines. I've seen it in action. I admire the dedication it takes.

To be honest, I acquired my taste for red wines out of necessity. The Beer Store strike of the early 80's forced my hand.
