I don't think of these lists as Most Beautiful, otherwise they wouldn't change so much year to year - they are really a measure of the celebrity status of a person in that year- if she didn't win the oscar etc she would be # 1 - may have been on the list however.
I think this applies, last year they had Gweneth Paltrow that also peaked as a celebrity and was nominated most beautiful. (also pretty but imo not the most beautiful)

The concept of beauty, in and of itself, is far too subjective for anyone, male or female, to ever be classified as "Most Beautiful". Is she attractive, very attractive, most attractive? All depends on who's eyes you're looking through.
BEAUTY is generally the appearance seen through most eyes in general (stunning beauty in some ), yet i not think she falls into that most beautiful category that Macleans puts her at all, as is confirmed by many others here.. many other beautiful women of all cultures that can and do knock her socks off in beauty department-

For example compare her face to Damaris Lewis another beautiful black woman-Lewis rocks IMO

She is gorgeous, problem is she knows it.
In the interviews I've seen with her, she NOT humble at all. So I don't think she's going to be a good ambassador for African women. Bad attitude, too bad.

"Beautiful" has nothing to do with it.

She's now an Oscar winner for a very high profile film. She has made friends with Steve McQueen, Brad Pitt and more importantly: Arnon Milchan and Dede Gardner which is what's REALLY important.

She's now a 'bankable commodity' with a bright future. She can make a lot of $$$ and other people will also make a lot of $$$ from her choices.

One can only hope her choices are intelligent, credible and prestigious and doesn't do a 'Cuba Gooding Jr.' with her career.

Halle Berry still grabs my attention even after all these years.
I agree and if Halle Berry was in the same room at her age Lupta would only be noticed by NAMBLA members. The difference is that great - obviously IMO.

Halle berry is hot, no doubt .. but some of us guys out there like the dark ebony look...

when i was in Jamaica, had a great week with a beautiful dark skinned ( slim, athletic body) woman who worked at my hotel.
.i loved how her skin glistens in the hot jamaican sun!

So original.

Your "opinion" is exactly the reason why black women with darker complexions feel under-appreciated and under-represented in mainstream society.

Thank goodness there are people who can appreciate all shades and types of beauty - otherwise beautiful and talented women like Lupita would never get a chance.

Don't get me wrong Lupita isn't bad but nowhere near the most beautiful woman in any colour shade.

IIRC, Halle is of mixed heritage, not a bad thing at all, so not classic nubian or central african beauty. Still a fine example of the over 40 crowd, who some on TERB think are all but dead weight.

There you have it folks. Right from the very mouth of the NAACP itself. Never a better example of classically convenient outrage and indignation! Well done, I say.

BTW..does your comment make you a White Knight or a Black Knight?....oh, never mind.

I was composing my response as you posted yours. Obviously you jumped to a wrong conclusion. I like and have dated women with dark skin. There are a lot of dark skinned beauties - to use an objection to Lupitas as some conspiracy against black women is lame. I'm not as ready to compare skin shades as you are but Lisa Bonet, Naomi Cambell, Tyra Banks all put Lupitas to shame.

If you want to mount your horse and champion the 'repression' of black beauties - I have to think that the preference of famous African american celebrities to exclusively white females (e.g: Tiger Woods, O.J. Simpson, Seal, ..) would be a bigger piss off than white male preferences.
