She's got a heavy-duty suspension as well.

</this is getting silly>
Stoped in her shop for the free 21 point inspection. She said my drive line needed to be blown out. Next time I might even bring my jeep for her to check.

Hamilton Mountain - I know of a quiet station (Sunoco) at Upper Wellington & Limeridge. I've heard on the radio SC and other areas pushing $2/L.
I picked up two 25L gas cans from Canadian Tire and filled those at the same station.
All other stops on the mountain are insane with lines and honking. Just got in from being out and Port Colborne is $1.80/L
Brgining to think gas might be a good barter for most things.

Kathleen: I know that station very well. Hey, does the restraining order cover buying gas at the same location?

Does anyone think the current rain is making some of the "less intelligent" around us say to themselves: "OMG OMG! Teh hurricane is on its way! I must stock up on gas!!!1!1!"?

Me too.

No kiddin. It's funny, but not. There is no accounting for gas to sky rocket to $2 or higher.
Katrina was blamed for the last massive jump, but when all was restored, the prices didn't go back. Its stayed right around $1/L here. But this new double price is beyond words.
Well, heres to gas certificates. :mad:

What would gallons get at 3.50/L?

How can gas be 2 bucks there and still one dollar in Toronto???
Either:

1. Supply and demand;

or

2. They're ass-raping us.

I'll give you one guess....

This from 1:00 PM today

Then this from 2:30 PM today
Not Barrie, but on the same radius one hr. north of To, the prices are still a buck a litre.. HOWEVER..I went Esso to fill up at 4PM to day and there was a line up...all six pumps plugged, both sides and people lined up waiting...this is rural Ontario folks, (you can smell it in the air)... I asked the owner's daughter on the cash, "Has it been like this all day?"...she relied, "Since early this morning...."

A buck a litre is now the new bench mark for a deal on gas. Just wait til this new price ripples thru the system... Asparagas will be 10.00 a kilo by Oct, and asphalt shingles? Need a new roof?...The price will double...steel will suddenly look cheap... 'cyber commute' will take on a new meaning in my neighbourhood...

From www.torontogasprices.com the most recent (reported within last 4 hours) prices in toronto are between .99 and 1.08.

The rest is a post from the cynic in me.

The gas companies have started the rumour of an increase in gas prices to start a rush at the stations. This rush at the stations pushes up demand while the supply stays constant. This allows the gas stations to justifiably raise the prices, or for the capitalists, means that people will be willing to pay more now because they are worried of paying more latter.

From what I have heard, it takes a minimum of three weeks, but normally about five, for the cost of oil purchasing to be passed on to local gas stations as it passes through the refining process. It didn't take weeks for the prices to rise after Katrina. This time, the price is going up a day BEFORE the hurrican hits. Make your own conclusion. Add to that that most Canadian oil is extracted, refined, delivered, and sold by the same company so it is obvious that the price at the pumps is no reflection of the cost of gas production.

To put it simply, gas prices are so high because we are stupid (fine, dependent) enough to pay it. This price panic is just more proof.

Unfortunately for me, the only strip club in walking distance is FYEO.

Gas Frenzy
September 22, 2005 - 0:28 am
By: Con Stevenson

Motorists in Chatham say a couple of gas stations there are gouging consumers. On Wednersday, one station raised prices to nearly $1.75 for a litre of regular. At least one other station there boosted prices to $1.59 a litre, but most stations in Chatham maintained prices at a few cents over the dollar mark.Prices in Toronto and most of the GTA ranged from lows in the high 90's Wednesday night to a high of $1.06.One station in Scarborough at Morningside and Lawrence followed the Chatham price lead at $1.29 a litre.Callers to 680News Wednesday night said one Barrie outlet was charging $1.74 a litre.

Whatever happened to our National Energy Policy that protected us as net producers from the world forces?

Hi,
I think hoarding behaviour has something to do with it Goober. If everybody starts topping up you will get a possible jump in price. Kathleen is right though, with the port of New Orleans supposedly working prices are really slow to come down.

But where we in Canada will really get hammered is with natural gas this winter. Look for a doubling of your home heating bill!!!!!! Texas and Louisanna produce most of the USA's natural gas. Because of NAFTA we have a totally integrated North American natural gas market. Thank Prime Minister Cretin for that one! It's going to be a long hard winter.

EU :mad:
Ummm, I think it was that idiot Muldummy who was responsible for NAFTA.
