The article states that critics of Ryan say it should be migrants and asylum seekers taken in before any people from countries of wealth. So does that mean white people should never be let in? What about letting in people based on merit and dire situations? If you only let in migrants and asylum seekers that screams reverse racism to me. It should be a mix of both, if always take in migrants and asylum seekers first, that doesn't seem to bode well for the society as a whole, If some of theses people are highly educated or skilled then fine. If not then sorry you have to accept highly educated or skilled people in on an equal basis
There are numerous people of all races that are given immigrant status to the USA over the years. The USA took in 10,000 millionaires while Canada took in 8000 wealthy millionaires. The right wing press never discloses this fact and only focuses on the migrant /refugees trying to make their way into the USA or Canada. We are a welcoming country and only the racists will object to this notion, as Canada and the USA has been built by very hard working migrants doing all sorts of jobs from labourers / construction workers to highly skilled professionals and entrepreneurs!!

Did you read my post? I was criticizing the guy guy who said the U.S should take the desperate and needy migrants, refugees and asylum seekers first until they are all taken care of before you take in people from wealthy countries, I didn't say anything about how it is now, all I said was if we followed this guys idea it wouldn't be good for society

I read your post, and was adding to it, if you analyzed it. Also, You are automatically assuming that the wealthy are just mainly whites only being allowed into the USA. The fact is that many of the wealthy are from China, South Korea, India as well as Middle Eastern countries. Historically, the largest refugees are from Europe after the second world war, and I added the link that confirms that fact. The article was only mentioning that some of the critiques wanted these refugees to be offered priority as they are escaping from countries that threatened their families lives. We know that the wealthy can just wave their notes and get priority in many instances. I know for a fact that one of the very rich migrants even mentioned that he had an immigrant visa within a couple of months after applying for it. Generally it takes over 12 months, I believe to process a visa. Some say that it takes over two years.

But the Bill proposed by Ryan is hypocritical as he has already supported a Bill to not offer the full citizenship to the Dreamers who have been living in the USA since their birth. Yes, their parents brought them in illegally and have in many instances paid the price for it, by being expelled. But their children have the right to claim the full citizenship as that is the only country that they have lived in all their lives. Anyway, why should Ryan not offer that deal to the UK or other European nations as well. Why only Ireland. Stinks of hypocrisy!!

I agree Ryan is being a hypocrite, he has blocked dreamers at every turn, they should be granted some form of citizenship.

I have little use for Ryan, but let's be fair. If they put an amnesty bill in front of him, he would not have a problem signing it.

History says he wouldn't, he's leaving now so maybe he doesn't care and would sign it now.

The Speaker of the House doesn’t sign anything, he/she votes.

There is no hypocrisy on fast tracking legal immigrant visas and not fast tracking illegal immigrant citizenship.

Nothing; as long as you aren't afraid to apply the same standards to people of slightly darker skin tones.
Absolutely. I don't care about skin color/ethnicity/religion. I care about whether these folks hold or are willing to hold and respect the same values and principles that make this country great.

If you do not see the hypocrisy you are not as smart as I give you credit for.

Or I’m smarter than your worldview can comprehend....

I am going with the former.
I’m sure you are.

I don’t see anything other than reason to prioritize legal immigration over illlegal.

Surely,if Jeb carried the day, Ryan would have been squarely in his camp. And Jeb floated amnesty during the primaries.

The article states that critics of Ryan say ...
Would be better if you inserted the term "some".

And it is fair criticism for a guy generally anti-immigrant to be called on making it easier for his own ethnicity to get to the US.

Who said that?

I think you would have a hard time finding anyone critical of legal merit based immigration including the current Speaker.
