i got a b/s ticket so i fought it just on principal. went down to the office on yonge, chose option 3 like the guy above. and 8 months later went to court downtown beside city halll. that day in the courtroom had all my 'evidence' in hand ready to fight. the first thing the prosecutor does is review all the cases for that day before the judge. when she gets to my name, i stand up, she says some sort of legalese to the judge and the judge tells me i can go. no questions, no evidence, no comments from me. a parking ticket is a waste of time for them to even talk about it. so fight it, you'll win be default you just have to figure out if it's worth the time.

Has anyone fought one and lost? What were the court costs?

LOL... when I read this thread the Malibu Rum commercial comes to mind. The one where it is a boat "parking lot" and everyone is fighting for a spot. Tehn one of the boaters gets a ticket handed to him and says "Is ya mother proud uh ya!!" That makes me laugh everytime!! LOL
Those have to be the best commercials on TV right now.
Most creative anyway.
lol!

I've always wondered if you could fight a parking ticket. I usually just pay mine like a good girl and not make a hassle. I wonder if I should try and fight the 2 recent ones I just got ?? But then its such a hassle.. isn' t the place downtown, and you still have to pay for the parking? LOL.. I'll end up wasting more money and gas. I'll just pay the darn things.. they make me sooooo angry though. Esp now that they are $30, not $20 like 2 years ago :(

You should definitely fight all your tickets in court.
All you'd have to do is smile and wink at the judge and your ticket would be ripped in half! If I get a court date set, care to accompany me? :)

A hot looking girl always has a better than average chance at beating the ticket (if the Parking officer was a guy...). Just show up in a tank top or fitted t-shirt showing some navel and wearing small shorts or a miniskirt. I've seen with my own eyes how the parking officer turns red and immediately gives a signal to the prosecutor who informs the judge that they will not proceed with the charges.

But first do what was suggested earlier, go with a friend and if the officer shows up, have the friend go and ask for an ajournment - maybe you'll be luckier on another date.

I agree that going to Metro Hall and parking there during their hours is awfull. It's set up to give them a good opportunity to ticket you AGAIN while you're requesting a court date for the original ticket. That's why I haven't bothered to plead some of my recent ones.

Best & cheapest way - if you have a three hours to kill on a nice day, park for free at the Dominion lot on Liberty (between Strachan & Atlantic), take King streetcar to Metro Hall to plead it, then walk back the 3km to your car.

"Has anyone fought one and lost? What were the court costs?" Yes, no court costs, only penalty is value of the ticket. You'll be asked if you can afford to pay, even immediately, and then be directed to cashiers area. If you can't afford it a payment schedule may be negotiated.

In my experience only, 100% chance of tickets being lost in process if you file intent to contest evidence at regional offices instead of Old City Hall at Queen/Bay.

I too have seen a female try her feminine guile on an old goat judge, and it worked: innocent puppy, heavy breathing and hair waving! I've seen it not work too; nowadays you're just as likely to get a female judge or JP.

parking

once I stopped, would not even use the work parked, next to an ATM, 1 min later ticket was written. the guy explained, being from the US U dont have to pay it, if you dont believe it, wait till send you the bill.
Even if I wanted it, could not read the fine, so waited till they sending the bill to my house, it was a year and half ago.
they have no mercy, no tolerance etc. they are aggressive. dont count on any mercy from them.
