Miss Hilton's Lawyer has stated that he is going to apply "to modify the sentence." Mentioning that "It is clear that she has been selectively targeted for prosecution for who she is."

Her Lawyer is, of course trying to earn his fees but the fact remains that this was a Probation Revocation hearing not a sentencing hearing. Miss Hilton had already been sentenced in January to three years in jail with the jail time suspended in favor of Probation.

Not being a member of a protected class I will be shocked if an appeals court even takes this case let alone renders a favorable verdict. Usually the fact that you’re a high profile defendant - and are being prosecuted as an example - doesn't matter at all so long as others are prosecuted for the same crime and the sentence you receive is not disproportionate.

Also has anyone mentioned that she was also sentenced to go into an alcohol awareness program and has never bothered to attend any classes, something else about which the Judge wasn’t particularly happy with her.

That may have been the rationale for the sentence. I think the judge and many other people are hoping she will opt for that course of action and serve a well deserved lifetime of obscurity in some remote, inaccessacble society like Cuba or Belarus.
