Yeah, but you're just a Canadian so I don't think a US candidate has anything to prove to you..... You should be focusing on the ass kicking the Libs are going to take from Harper in 6 weeks.

That's true.....got me!

Doesn't matter to me who wins up here, I wouldn't notice the difference anyway. Now, as for those local politicians who initiate all of the traffic calming nonsense, that I really notice. :D

Every voter has to make up their own mind. However, I don't think an otherwise qualified candidate for public office should be ruled out just because they happen to reject evolution.

That said, however, I don't think it says much for their theological or biological sophistication, but if posters here on TERB were being 'weeded out' based on the first criteria from what I've seen posted over the years there would be far fewer of us here.
But there is a line between nutty beliefs and unusual viewpoints(or at least non mainstrem ones). Someone who believes in the literal interpretation of the bible rejects scientific advances and rationality. If they believe in the power of prayer over the power of antibiotics they could reduce our national health care bill and help stave off population growth all at the same time.

No, believing the Pope is infallible, that's flaky....

Absolutely. BTW he's only infallible when he speaks 'ex-cathedra' - in his position as the pope - and only on issues of faith and morals. So if he says the Bears are going to beat the Bengals dont bet the farm.

Yes that is how it works. But the fun part is that I get to decide when I'm speaking "ex-cathedra".

The left tries to tie religious extremism to the right wing political viewpoint. The truth is that religious people are no more likely to be right wing than non-religious people.

This CNN article is suggests that since Palin is a member of a church that sometimes has religious nuts associated with it that therefore she is also a religious nut. That’s an illogical argument.

The left is so eager to point their crooked little fingers at any and all religious nuts on the right, but consider their own golden boy, Obama. There’s lots of suggestion that he’s a closet Muslim, running for office.

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/022596.php

That fact that Iran and much of the Islamic world considers him to be “one of them” is disturbing enough.

In spite of all that, I believe that Obama is not a Muslim. You can bet that I would cry foul if I thought he was. I believe that he was raised as a Muslim and left Islam. I can’t fault anyone for being born a Muslim. It wasn’t his choice. However, he certainly is less than forthcoming about his background because he denies ever being a Muslim.

The evidence suggests that Obama believes in something worse than Islam. He believes in Black Liberation Theology.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_liberation_theology

This is based on the works of James Cone.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Cone_(theologian)

To understand Black Liberation Theology, here’s a quote from James Cone:

Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.

Obama attends Trinity church for 20 years which preaches Black Liberation Theology and the pastor is one of his closest friends. He spent 20 years listening to this racist garbage and now he wants to be prez.

Obama refuses to wear a stars and stripes pin and he refuses to place his hand on his heart during the anthem. Obama and his kind consider the United States to be a “white man’s country.” His goal once in office is the “destruction of the white enemy.”

If he isn’t a scary, religious whack-job then we need to redefine the term.

Speaking of whack-jobs. How's that bunker you're building going? Remember, you can never dig it deep enough.

In fairness there is a significant difference between someone who doesn't believe in Evolution and someone who doesn't believe that it is moral to use certain common medical treatments.

Or to somewhat introduce a red herring, what about those parents who won't immunize their children despite overwhelming evidence of the efficacy of doing so. The vast majority of whom are not fundamentalist Christians.
