Pale vs. Tan

A friend of mine brought me some self tanner and I have been hesitant to try it because I've never had tanned skin before.
I've always been more of a classic Snow White.

This made me curious about what clients generally prefer and if changing (albeit temporarily) to a tanned girly might be off-putting to my regulars who may prefer my pale nature.

Both are great. Definitely depends on the person. I do wish there were more providers with the super pale, jet black hair goth/scene/alt type looks.

@prettypennyc - you have the olive complexion that instantly tans with the barest beam of sunlight.
@KittyCaterina - I think it would be a bit jarring to see you tanned. Maybe a few pics to see the effect. Fake-n-Bake is temporary, but you're still the same girl no matter WHAT complexion you might have.

There has been more voting than I thought there would be.

I left voting open for a week, but so far I am surprised that other than the Both option, tanned and pale are close to being tied!
I had thought that Pale option would be lagging behind.

I think Tan looks better on darker hair. Blondes and Red heads look better with Pale skin. Khaleesi (GoT) wouldn't be the same with Tan skin lol.
Goth look is not MCOT.
Love tan lines.

All shades really. From very dark to translucid, I love them all. That's my expensive problem.

Here’s my take: self tanner notwithstanding, many of us clients prefer smooth, youthful looking skin. SP’s who take care of themselves value the same (including diet, gym, etc.). Tanning often results in the opposite.

I have no real preference on the tan-ness of the skin, per-se, but those who tan frequently will be reflected in the, dare I say “youthfulness” of their skin. Not a controversy, simple fact of aging of skin due to exposure SPF.

Therefore, it’s a personal choice for the SP.
