Because of all this overreacting to this Documentary, it probably made the Director an extra $1million just off the publicity and curiosity.

And still hasn't given into any accusation.

If you guys are angry now, you're not going to like this.

I don’t know why you’d say that. If Kyrie really is not anti-Semitic and is able to approach this situation as a teachable moment then I would be delighted to have him back. Frankly, I don’t see how anyone could re-Tweet a link to that film unless they are anti-Semitic but I am open to listening.

Once Kyrie has to stand up at a press conference and answer questions we’ll see what happens…I’m not optimistic

FWIW: The league and the Nets have been getting a lot of pushback from black players and the black community that they think Kyrie’s punishment is excessive. Thus, I think the league/Nets are feeling some pressure to put this behind them and move on.

As I said in this thread.
Go look in the mirror. You've become everything you've claimed to hate.

But what is a Semite according to the bible?
I love this asinine argument. Are you really trying to say that the racism encompassed by the term 'anti-semite' is okay because you believe Africans are semites? It's as some as saying that hateful stereotypes of other cultures can't be racist because scientifically all humans are the same race.

Because you can't?
If I want to know what's on your mind, I'll just read some random article online regarding all of this because that is the depth of your knowledge and understanding on this situation.

You're like the kid back in elementary school that didn't see the TMNT movie, so all you had to go off is the commercials. There's no depth in conversation with you.

It's not what I believe. It's what is written in the bible.

How can you create a term derived from the bible, but then turn around and tell me don't believe the bible when it doesn't fit your narrative?

Interesting article on support Kyrie has been receiving from parts of the black community along with Amazon’s role in this debacle:

From the article:
Irving has apologized after having refused to do so, and he has been vaunted among a vocal minority of Black people who, disinformation be damned, claim his cause is steeped in pro-Black intellectualism.

I’ll pass.

I insist that, if Irving were as enlightened and self-aware as he claims to be, he’d be less concerned about parroting right-wing talking points he was fed on the internet and more concerned about how — and why — those talking points made their way to him.

Regarding Amazon’s role:
“At the core of this issue is the failure to consider what a system designed to upsell customers on tote bags or fitness equipment or gardening tools (and which has proven to be one of the most successful systems in the world for doing so) would do when unleashed on products espousing conspiracy theories, disinformation or extreme views. The entirely foreseeable outcome is that Amazon’s platform is, in effect, inadvertently but actively promoting these ideas to their customers.”
How did Irving find this video? By his own admission, by typing a Hebrew translation of his name into Amazon. Yes, Kyrie Irving’s career is on the line because of his vocal support for what is, in essence, a Jeff Bezos-approved movie rec.

Keep on making excuses. And are you really trying to use the bible as 'proof'? But if you really want to die on that hill, even if some Jews were darker than average in the Middle East at the time, it doesn't follow that all darker people were Jews. As I said before, Judaism spread to Ethiopia/Askum but it would be stupid to use that fact to claim East or Southern Africans were really Jews.

More importantly, you're trying to use semantics to justify racism. Thanks for coming out.

p.s. Anti-semitism is a word coined in 1879 and is not from the bible. Doesn't it suck when reality gets in the way?

Coined in Germany and refers specifically to European Jews, there were no Arabs or other semites in Europe's cities and ghettos,
Kyrie and his ilk are trying to be too clever by half.

Oops. That's why you should have watched the movie.

OK, see you tomorrow my friend. You clown. 🤡

Also I will ask you again, where does the name Semite come from? what does the word derive from?

Did they pull a name out of a hat and it said Semite? What is the root of the word?

I'm actually curious to know why you think that it is stupid?

And are you really trying to use the bible as 'proof'?
And then you got this here. Isn't religion based on belief? And why is it ok for you to question someones belief but not ok for some to question others?

Don't you claim to be a Leftist?

Because Africa is a very large place with a huge variety of different cultural groups? Because those population groups were in place long before Fertile Crescent civilization and the invention of Judaism (or Christianity)? Because historical sources from Ancient Egypt through the Romans never mentioned that Jews were a different ethnicity from anyone else in the region? Sorry but if some guy's interpretation of an English translation of the bible is your source of scientific information then you really have nothing to stand on.

The logic statement should clarify: (even if) All Jews were black, it does not follow that all black people are Jews.

I'm actually curious how you think perceptions of what some old book says justifies believing in conspiracy theories demonizing an entire religion.

..

p.s. Stupid claim. I've been very clear I'm condemning the racist conspiracy theories. If you want to believe you're a Jew have fun.

Are you still trying to claim that some dude's 'vision' a couple hundred years ago is justification for racist conspiracy theories?
Doesn't matter who had a vision. What does it say in the scriptures? That's what we are talking about.

You're the racist.

Because historical sources from Ancient Egypt through the Romans never mentioned that Jews were a different ethnicity from anyone else in the region?
OK, so what was the skin colour of Ancient Egyptians?

I'm actually curious how you think perceptions of what some old book says justifies believing in conspiracy theories demonizing an entire religion.
Not going to say this anymore. Once you find the root of the word Semitic, you'll get your answer

For instance, if someone said Harry Potter is Black then nobody ought to give a shit because there is the freedom to be stupid as long as it is a harmless kind of stupid. However if on top of positing that Harry Potter is black, that evil Jews used Jewish space lasers to force JK Rowlings to change Harry Potter to white then that is a problem because it is no longer a harmless kind of stupid.

But classically in Bible interpretation, the Hamites are the Africans.

1. Your statement shows my point for Kyrie. These things don't have to be dependant on each other, but he is being pressured to denounce the whole documentary.

2. If it is written in the scriptures, That's what's written. You can only condemn the opinions of man. Like "Synagogue of Satan", it's a bible reference.

Well there you go. The smoking gun. I guess jews must have controlled the slave trade if his grandfather owned slaves. Thanks for clearing that up.
thanks for me as well. I always thought it was mostly Brits and 'Mericans and if they had any religion they didn't practice it...

???

As I said, if your 'evidence' is interpretation from a thousands of years old document that's been translated many times, you're clearly not talking reality. But as I said, religion is not rational so you can consider yourself a direct descendant from aliens for all I care.

What you choose to ignore is that no one is concerned about what people's religious identity is but rather the overt promotion of hatred against others.

p.s. Love the way your defence of racism gets exposed in this discussion and you resort to saying everyone else are the real racists.
