Its an outstanding pain killer. Too bad the weak and addicted of our society have ruined access to this drug for those people who can control themselves and are able to use OxyContin for its intended purpose, with no ill effects. Pain sucks!!

My doc told me it's because it's so addictive that most people become addicted to it.

The drug will still be availaible. They have modified the formula so it can no longer be snorted or injected. With the new formula when water is added and it is heated it will become like a gel making it impossibe to shoot it.

What hasn't been counted on with the all the people, patients and drug addicts is what will the health system do when the addicts crash or need something else to replace it so suddenly. There will bigger trouble before things get better. There are communities in rural Canada where the elderly are getting their prescriptions and selling a portion of it for income to addicts.

You don't even have to go that far. There are all sorts of scumbags selling the shit on the srteets of Hamilton/ Niagara and surrounding area.

The company that manufactures it, has stopped production of it as of March 1st. There is a a month period where you can still get it, in its current form. Then after that its going to be called Oxyneo, and yes it will be harder to abuse. And if your not already on it, then you cant get a new prescription for it. Only patients in hospital that are dying will get it thats it. But if your already on it then it will be grandfathered in to you.

Also what they arent telling everyone , is that after the first of April, the government will no longer pay for the drug. If your on Welfare or Odsp you will have to pay for it yourself. Unless your Dr signs a form saying that you need the drugs. And then its only good for 1 year, then you will have to re-apply to get it for another year.

My SO is on Oxy, and its gonna cost us over 3 grand a month for her pills, we just waiting to hear back from her Dr. Hopefully she will sign the form, so its stills covered.

Yup. I knew someone who has a chronic health issue and sells a portion of her vicodin for profit.

True, but an increasing dosage is required as time goes by to maintain the same effect on pain management. This woman went form 1-2 pills a day to something like 30 over a 15 year period.
That's with any opiate-based pain killer. It's tough for people with chronic pain.

Possibly get hooked on opiates or risk possible kidney damage/failure on anti-inflammatories.

I wonder what kind of high does it give? I'd be too much of a pussy to try it if it's an opiate, but it'd be nice to hear about it.

If you were to crunch an 80 mg oxy in your mouth like a smartie you would probably end up sleeping for 2 days.

My SO was on alot of these, shes been slowly cutting herself back for the last 3 years. Back then she was on 8 Oxy 80s a day, and 12 Oxy 40s a day, and 24 Percs a day. It helped with the pain, but she was in a virtual coma every day.

Thats crazy! I have a family member suffering from severe nerve damage as a result of diabetic neuropathy. He is taking 6 80's and 12 percs a day. I thought that was a lot.

The world can be a very cruel place. It is really tough that the two choices a person has is either struggle with extreme pain or be in a lethargic state.

Tylenol of any strength does sfa for me for any injury or moderate pain as it is with about 30% of the public, and Oxy is the only way to go albeit at the 5 or 10 mg dose. My doctor of 30 years and repeated by a surgeon, who did some serious work for me some time back, said I shouldn't worry about the addictiveness of the meds as I didn't have that kind of mind set, knowing my tendency to under medicate over the years for pain. At 5mg, what ever pain there is goes way down and I can operate normally, but on 10 mg it goes bye bye, but I wouldn't use a screwdriver, in fear of injury, let alone drive or use any machinery. I can only imagine what 60 and 80 mg would do.

Considering I only require it once or twice a year for a couple of days, i often return it to the doctors office after it get old, maybe two years or so. It sure puts their mind at ease.

The tendency for people to under medicate is well known in medical circles and is why they often allow patients to self administer in hospitals by that using that magic buzzer/button. They press the button when they need some help and tend to use less over time. YET, here the secret, these buttons will only give you your daily max if you get silly stupid, so you can press it all you want and it won't give you more than you should have daily.

Holy Fuck, no shit! It was time to work with a pain specialist to work on a new regime when it gets to that point.

is it true that it is similar to heroin which is why methadone is used for addicts of oxy.

also are percocets the same as oxy? snorting crushed percs makes you feel like you are sinking into the couch.....according to a friend who had percs for breaking his neck.
