Gentlemen, I also stumbled upon a banner of Lavilla spa right here on terb, but I don't know why it is under Hamilton section. it links you to temp page http://www.lavillaspa.ca/ No info there on prices or schedule or services, but I called and the girl told me $40 for 30 min and $80 for 1 hr. They have 2 girls there and may actually be worth trying... Oshawa is kinda dry nowadays since Sacura is gone as well as old old old Park Ave Spa gone years ago. The girl I talked to (I guess receptionist) told me they have a body rub license, so who knows, maybe it is potential???

I called today as well and was told 50 for hh. I decided to try to find it and maybe walk in for a visit. When I got there there were lots of people working outside on the place, putting up signs and working on the yard or something. It didnt make me want to walk in there thats for sure. The place itself looks alright but its on a deadend just off bloor just east of the MR Burger plaza. There is residential housing all around it as well. The lady on the phone sounded really sweet and nice. Might try again another time. Just a bit of an awkward placement for the spa IMO

LOL there is no such thing as a body rub licence in Oshawa. Courtice had the last one before the bylaw to ban them in the Durham area, and they just got shut down. So not a good start them telling you that, I'm just saying be careful they are watching these places trust me.

well obviously two of us have been told different amounts. If you really want to know I would suggest you either call yourself or go and find out. And Im pretty certain if you want more than a backrub there be a room fee as well. Let us know what the real deal is when you go.

This time you're wrong Khona lol (come on bro let me win one against you lol). I was at Oshawa City Hall last month with a former attendant from Sakura who wanted Oshawa Body Rub info. We talked to some staff and they gave us all the licensing info and zoning info. There is such a thing as a body rub license in Oshawa and is restricted to certain areas as mentioned in the by law. The real problem is enforcement, on one hand they will allow the license but they will do everything in their power to shut you down. So even though La Villa is legit (I called today and was quoted $40 for 30 minute full body relaxation massage) the cops and by law officers will routinely drop in to the spa and make things harder (no pun intended). They will be watching them closely. Way too many headaches for a legit body rub place in Oshawa. You are an open target with the officials, by law officers and cops. Better off working out of the apartments in the Nonquan area where you can grease the Superintendant and he will cover your back. Why do you think all the Asians set up shop there.

Here's a PDF copy of an Oshawa Body Rub License in case you didn't believe me...

http://www.oshawa.ca/documents/LicApplicBodyRub.pdf

And here is La Villa's request for exemption from a specific criteria in the by-law (as you can see they have been working on getting this license for over 2 years now)

http://www.oshawa.ca/agendas/Financ...-88-Oshawa_LaVilla_Spa_Body_Rub_Exemption.pdf

And here is the by law #120-2005 (Schedule "O" refers to body rub parlours in Oshawa pages 76 to 83), you will notice the headaches I was referring to with all the stringent regulations that parlours have to go through in order to meet the standards.

LOL your right about the by law's you have to sign a lease and have floor plans made up before you can apply for a licence. The city will notify all the residance and bussness in the area and if one says no you will not get a licence, however you are still on the hook for the lease you signed. I looked into it about 4 years ago, now things might have changed in the last couple of years but that is why I say you cant get a licence.
I never heard of anyone getting one in the last five years, I may be wrong but I'm sure if anyone recieved a licence we would have heard about it.
LOL I think Toronto doesn't give any out anymore as well thats why anyone with a body rub licence is selling it for big money, also I think they are not transfirable to different locations.

Been there - done that! Won't get anywhere but harassed! Better to go private and save your investment dollars for something else.

Love the half wall stipulation. That's a new one, compared to other city bylaws.

Is it near a bulding that used to have sporting goods? I think it was called Gofor Sports at one time. Located on a deadend up on a hill just behind Mr Burger
