Well so far they’ve closed these regions for several weeks and the cases are still going up so clearly you’d think they could realize the first time didn’t work for a reason.

Why would they listen to you if you gave them the ultimatums? Sorry but you part of a tiny group of cranks in their opinion.
People will continue to defy their rules cause it isn’t bringing any results. If you’re gonna lockdown do it properly for a few weeks then move on. This approach is just wasting time and people are realizing how bs it is.

GTA & Thereabouts...
We shouldn’t let ourselves be locked down. Enough is enough.

I can go to work and be around people from all parts of Ontario, but I have to go inside at night as I might turn into a pumpkin?

I wear my mask, but that should be it. Sweden is marginally worse than we are with zero lockdowns.

I’d love for the Governments to show how they got Canada, Ontario, Toronto/Peel ready for the 2nd Wave. I haven’t got my N95 mask in the mail yet. I still see cars from all parts of the USA driving around.

Stop living and fear. Stop begging to give away your freedom. Demand better from your Government.

You see what these lockdown cheerleaders don’t seem to understand is that these half measure approach isn’t bringing any results. If they really wanted to have a lockdown they would close everything not just pick and choose who gets to be open and who doesn’t. Especially when that isn’t even bringing any results lol. Let them live in their misery and contradictions though.

Some places, such as Stratford, are not allowing anyone but locals to eat in the restaurants. They check IDs. During the summer, my wife and I took a drive long the south end of Lake Simcoe. They had signs at all the beaches parking lots saying parking is only for residents and people were at the entrance checking IDs.

People will just travel to regions that are open.

LOL!! That's what the Europeans did to combat the spread of the plague... in the 14th century.

This whole thing is bullshit and a clusterfuck..........

I can sit at a patio and drink beer, like I did today, but, gods forbid, if I should take my niece trick or treating. This Saturday, thousands of people will visit packed Costco or Wal-Mart, while I can't enjoy a steak at Ruth's, sitting 10 feet from another diner. And on it goes. Surreal doesn't begin to even describe it.
Exactly! I've tried to argue the same point about the VERY obvious inconsistencies with the rules and have been attacked by a certain few here.

Also, it's supposed to be about 22 degrees tomorrow. The patios will be packed with very little distancing! But you can't go inside and sit by yourself (where you'll actually be safer) because you're not allowed!

You go ahead and protest. GO to Doug crying and see what Doug and majority of the electorate thinks about your stand up and not be locked down mantra. I suspect majority of sane people who understand we are in a pandemic will think you're a nutbag. None of us like it. I'd love to be banging everyday but as one of your mentors put it "it is what it is" deal with it.

Go to Ireland and complain as they are in total lockdown for 6 weeks. Keep up the good work Amigos of being selfish jackasses not following COVID protocols and soon we maybe joining Irelands lead.
You are missing the point. We are saying that the government should do an actual lockdown or don't do one at all. It is a half- assed and inconsistent lockdown that isn't working.

I'm just wondering if you've been to Ireland? An honest question. There are likely pubs that are locking the doors, closing the curtains and drinking/
eating in the basement, trust me. Maybe not downtown Dublin or Belfast but in smaller towns where there is little police presence. There are too many old family-run pubs/restaurants that can't afford to close.

I believe they would love to but the population isn't ready for it , YET. Imagine being in Doug Fords shoes and telling Ontarians , all will be shuting everything down except grocery stores. It's not an easy thing to pull off. Do I think having a dance studio open and a yoga studio closed fair, no I don't. I do on the other hand believe gyms and inside dining should be closed because one cannot wear a mask. I also believe schools should be closed because the spread cannot be contained and it's been downplayed in order to use the schools as a daycare so parents can go to work. It's not perfect but they cannot let the virus run wild as it is across the border.

So we do agree on a few things. :) I also agree about the schools but what is the alternative? Parents, especially single parents, have to work.

This is exactly why I don't envy being in any of the leaders shoes. It is a hard call. Imagine the sleepless night Ford and Tory had telling restaurant and gym owners they would be shut down for a month knowing full well some of them will not survive. They cannot let Covid run wild and over run the ICU beds and leaving doctors to play God on who lives or dies.

The same people who were and still are complaining about initial shutdowns, wearing masks, social distancing, contact tracing will be the same people complaining about "actual lockdowns".
Who are we kidding that "actual shutdowns" enforced by police will be tolerated by these when there are a few people complaining about not being able to drink a beer while looking at a naked woman.
Unfortunately those who complain and the COVIDIOT's disobeying these rules are the cause of this, we'd be doing a lot better if everyone obeyed the guidelines. Now even with our current situation we are substantially doing alot better than most advanced westernized countries.

But then again we are 9 months into a pandemic and people still have not understood that wearing a mask reduces your exposure to the virus and they still question this fact, even when it's further explained to them.
9 months into a pandemic people still have not understood the difference between a crowded bar/restaurant/strip club and the threat it represents Vs being in close conatct with 1 person.
It's truly amazing the amount of ingenious people there are. :ROFLMAO:

The New Zealand lockdowns have worked well. NZ even went back to normal life for over 100 days.

"2 new studies show shutdowns were astonishingly effective

In the United States, the public health measures averted 60 million infections, researchers found.

...researchers looked at the number of deaths from Covid-19 in 11 countries in Europe. They found that 3.1 million deaths in these countries were avoided with pandemic control measures.

... shutdowns do work at saving lives and reducing the burden on the health care system.

...It echoes an earlier finding that the US could have avoided 36,000 deaths from Covid-19 if the country implemented pandemic control measures just one week earlier.
