Yet he has been chopping a lot of the essential spending on the education. No wonder I see numerous students holding placards in protest at his penny pinching cuts. After all, he will require a much bigger form of transportation to move that big fat tummy of his. He just spent over $50,000 of taxpayers cash to modify his car, for so called security and that it was his work area while he enjoyed being driven around with taxpayers funding. Now the Ontarians are waking up in shock at his budget that will balance itself!!
There's a big gray area here. We don't know how much his sticker shaming program will cost nor if there are any rebates to be had from the Carbon Tax program.
There's no new spending on health care and only 1.7% increase on education. He's cut all funding on refugee claims which will put human rights lawyers out of work. The big one is Bill C-36, McVety wants it enforced to the fullest extent of the law. Douglas is hesitant on it, he won't proceed unless he gets Federal money. And Quebec's economy is booming on the back of a $1.8 billion transfer payment, Ontario's economy is sagging on the back of a $ 0.0 transfer payment. Toronto/GTA is by far the largest tax base in the country, generating more revenue than almost Edmonton and Calgary combined.
Presently BC and Quebec have the strongest economies in Canada. Premiere Horgan's approval rating is high, he may try to go for a majority government while he's hot.

I'm going to pull a Thug Ford on you and smash your Thus-colored glasses, just as The Thug has once again smashed years and $$$'s spent on ACTUALLY doing the planning and advancing mass transit expansion in Toronto. There's much, much more to "undertaking ambitious and much needed" transit projects than drawing pretty multi-colored lines on a map of Toronto and parts of the GTA.
The Thug has once again without much thought at all, as he previously did with bro Rob, trashed advanced REAL transit planning and replaced it with fanciful and colorful yet wholly unrealistic fantasy that ensures that actual and operational mass transit expansion will once again be decades and decades away from reality, if ever built
His fancy and colorful lines on map plan is not funded, if he actually does produce the cash it will only be 40% funded.
His fantasy is also wholly unrealistic in it's costing and timelines. WHOLLY UNREALISTIC means un-fuckin-doable.
He is once screwing The City of Toronto by:
1) Setting on fire the years of actual design work to the tune of $200million that Toronto taxpayers have spent.
2) Trashing $1billion of gas tax transfers to the City for TTC state of good repair capital projects. What is purpose of the Thug's transit expansion fantasies if the system falls apart because of his negligence in keeping it an operational state.
3) THE Thug has now ensured years and years, but mostly likely decades of waiting for actual built and operational mass transit expansion.
The windmill at Ontario Place started working last month after standing still since its launch many years ago. It's a sign. Things are finally working under new leadership!
Canadians should be screaming "Built transit!" as loudly and proudly as Americans scream "Build the Wall!"
