Old Cathode Tube TV

I have an old 1998 cathode tube tv that is receiving (very poorly) over the air signals. Will this tv be disabled from receiving over the air signals after August 2011?

Yes, unless you get an ATSC decoder box.

you might only have to change the CRT and it should be fine.

It was kind of handy to have as a spare when I am in the doghouse. Useful for watching the hockey game or the news but the reception, over the air, is terrible because I can't be bothered installing an outside antenna.

I have this old fashion indoor antenna that has two "U" prongs that can't connect to the TV without a coaxcial adapter.

I still use an old CRT TV...don't watch much TV anyway, maybe news or Simpsons or whatever while eatin dinner...could care less about HD...big computer screens have always had better resolution anyway

digital broadcast TV might be lame for you...unless you live in big city, or near one with decent terrain for picking up relay towers or whatever.

during transition here in the USA, I thought son of a bitch, got heaps of channels on analog, but digital only had one on convertor box...however, when I moved antenna directly in front of south facing window I was able to pull them in over the low ridge between me and the main city.

ifya have too many big trees or tall buildings around, signal might be blocked...sometimes my signal drops out on some channels as damn helicopters fly by.
