Woo hoo!!!
Really? You don’t like the Oilers? I just can’t believe it’s the final week of June. They need to shave an entire month off of this thing to finish earlier.

I really thought they were going to win, they've looked so dominant the past 3 games. I was so optimistic I laid 2 bills on them to win. Oh well 31 years and counting since a Canadian team won the Cup.

I had this feeling that they were going to lose. Or more likely, it just figured that they would lose. They got cocky and frankly, they just seemed to be phoning it in. Sure there were a few instances of hard driving determination, but they just didn't seem to be playing balls to the wall like they did in the previous 3 games where they were just relentless and constantly on the gas. It seemed like they were playing a regular season game rather than the 7'th game in the Stanley Cup final. All of that was reflected in the shots on goal totals and the score board.

On the bright side, it was cool to watch the Florida crowd join along in the singing of Oh Canada (or that might have been the Oiler fans there, I dunno), I was happy to see Paul Maurice finally win a cup and it was a fair game and Florida legitimately won the game. Anjd Florida won their first ever Stanley Cup.

It was a shame that Edmonton didn't win as I truly felt that it would have been great for national unity as goofy as that sounds. But after years of Trudeau telling Canadians that we are all a bunch of bags of shit, it sure would have been nice to have something positive to say about Canada for a change. I'm more disappointed about that than anything else.

Ya it would have been good for Canada if the Oilers won. I'm not even a fan of theirs but it would have been nice to see Connor get a ring as opposed to Matthew Tka-upchuk.

All in all Canada kind of won. The total number of Canadian players rooster of the Oilers is 27 players! While the Panthers still had 14. Which is also impressive.

That's why I never bet on these games. I really wanted the Oilers to win, but at least I didn't lose any money betting on the Oilers!!

I'm with you on the 31 years and counting, would have been nice especially the way they came back, what a crazy story it would have been had they won. I'm not a McDavid fan, but I can't even imagine how he must feel right now.

not always sure...
They sure provided hours of great hockey to watch!!

Loved it.
This is the truth.

Fabulous entertainment in a high octane series.
Full marks to the Oilers and the Panthers for a great showcase final series.

We're very lucky to be watching McDavid in his prime.
Incredible playmaking and creates compete chaos in defences with his stickhandling.
42 points in 25 playoff games this year. Fully deserved the Conn Smythe.

It's almost bloody July. How long until training camp? 8 or 9 weeks?

I don't dislike the Oilers in particular, but for now, I'm not cheering for any Canadian team to win the cup.

The rest of Canada loooves mocking Leafs fans for their Cup drought and I'm pretty sure if the roles were reversed a majority would have wanted the Leafs to lose for the sole reason of wanting to extend that streak and continue the mocking. Call me spiteful, but why should I root for a team whose fans root against us?

I like to think that my lack of moral support for the Oilers made the difference last night. LOL

It's been 31 years since the formerly vaunted and respected Montreal franchise won. The Leafs won in '67. So 31 years from then was 1998, at which time the Leafs were already being ridiculed, so at this point they are as much of a joke as the Leafs were. It's been 34 years since the Oilers won and look how many #1 overall picks have they had. Nothing to be proud of there either. When did Vancouver come into the league? 1970? 54 years and ZERO cups. It's like if somebody is 100 pounds overweight or 120 pounds overweight, does it really make much of a difference?

That's the nature of sports, isn't it Kirk. There's always ebbs and flows and nobody can predict when trends are going to change. Just because a team or an individual is clearly the best, doesn't mean they never lose. Everybody has off days.

Sorry for the 2 bill hit you took. You'll make it back once the NFL starts.
