In exactly one week, I will own a house.

A year ago, I had an apartment I couldn't pay for, a car that was falling apart, an ODSP application that I was still fighting just to get, and a rabbit who I occasionally couldn't afford to feed, so I had to give him pasta instead of rabbit food, which he hated.

And now I'm buying a house. With stained glass windows and pine plank floors, which makes it my dream house.

I love my job.

Also, I'm a little freaked out cause I've barely packed anything.

I remember how I felt after struggling for years to finally buy my first house. Many more struggles came afterwards, but somehow they seemed more worthwhile because everything was going towards something that belonged to me.

I've moved 4 times since and never want to do that again.

Yes, I still have my bunny. He is fat and kinda mean, but he loves me. He gets really mad if I bring home a pizza with meat on it (I'm the worst vegetarian ever), but he likes candles and styrofoam a lot. He also loves his grandma because whenever she visits, she brings him an apple. And she loves me cause I don't leech off her any more (thought it was a tangent, but here we are, full circle at "I love my job").

Thank you for the congratulations. I'm a very happy girl.

Edit: I'm like one of those mums who can't help but show you albums upon albums of pictures of her babies (except my babies are hairy and four-legged). Be prepared for many, many pictures of my bunny tearing around my new house.

Since you're flush with money, toss the old and undesirable. If moving has taught me one thing, it's that accumulating garbage will make you run for the razors. Also, light weight and plastic rox0rz my box0rz. On a side note, since you now have equity to protect, make sure you save enough money to cover a serious economic downturn (at least three months of zero income).

Right now I am living with my mother and have debt to reach my eyeballs.

A student loan ($26K) and car loan. Plus a mom I am supporting.

Plus I have bank stock that is going down the drain.

I quit advertising here because it was not working and I cannot afford to drop $$ down the toilet.

Today I was telling my mother how upset I am at the situation and I wish my other business would finally take off. The only thing that seems to be working for me right now is (oddly enough) my dog food business. A friend and I have a small business in raw dog food, thus I get some "free" food for my dogs and cat. Plus I have a really sweet well trained GSD that has posed for some art work and may be in commercials/TV one day (if I decide to go that route with her).

Thanks for posting your situation because it gives me hope, when all hope was gone.

Once again, thank you everybody, and congratualtions to you, too, Noir. Perhaps the Sun will mention girls like us in their next inflammitory story (and it'll be a cold day in hell, too ). Jessie, you're very clearly a smart woman, and you have made it a priority to care for the people you love. Don't sell yourself short. Being there for the people who need you can take a lot of guts.

I do love my job, but I'm really looking forward to a more relaxed schedule, too. Unfortunately, I'm not swimming in quite enough cash to throw out my stuff and replace it instead of moving it (good idea though, i live on the top floor of a walkup building right now), but I don't need quite as much money as I've been making the last few months, and I need to stop neglecting school, family, friends, my charity, sleep etc. Hard work pays off... but holy crap it'll be nice to relax a little.
