It's quite possible your punches pack more of a wallop. I'll get back to you on that if you ever land one. :D

Now try doing your own instead of coping mine.... it's the little steps.

On a more serious note, what do you think of my nickel analysis?

Perhaps but most assuredly, Dean Singleton is a moron. How does one so addle minded become AP chairman?

He appears to be a simple, petty, uneducated man of the people. POTUS material if there ever was, eh Aardvark?
JM&J am I the only one here who ever studied any 19th and 20th Century U.S. History! You act like a) I'm making all this up and b) that I'm personally advocating the stupider the better.

Talk about shooting the messenger!

Coping or copying?

I didn't think I was copying you, only doing a better job with the metaphor.

I thought it was flawed, of course. ;)

Truthfully, you got it right on the last line. Obama could have expressed himself better and it was a mistake to go where he did. All the same, I still agree with the meat of his point and I don't believe he meant to sound condescending.

Tempest in a teapot is correct. This doesn't illustrate a hidden belief or agenda as others like TQM suggest.

Sorry Aardvark, that last line was meant to be tongue in cheek. I understand what you're saying and I agree, the voters want to relate to their POTUS (or any political leader).

Personally though, I prefer my leaders to be smarter than me and get offended when the political discussion is dumbed down to the lowest denominator.

I think he let out his elitism on his way to the racism.... it was unintentional but that doesn't mean it wasn't what he really thought.

I disagree.

If you believe this, how can you call it a tempest in a teapot?

That is because you are looking at his comment through an outdated and biased filter

Because it's no secret that some whites won't vote for a black, like some men won't vote for a woman..... Had he just said this he would have been delivering an unvarnished and unfortunate truth - that I would have respected. Instead he put forward his own ism.... call it redneckism lumping guns, religion and anti-immigration into a stereotypical small town midwest blue collar figure....

I think voters may triangulate the nonsense is preacher has said, Michelle Obama's silly remarks and this latest gaff and come to the conclusion that Obama holds middle class american in distain.... and that won't get him elected.

But hey, that's just what I think and who really cares what I think.

That's the opinion more and more folks think.

We've been fu@@ed by the conservative agenda.
Your post is a telling response, and typical of the
conservative attitude toward the middle class
workers.
I want results, not rhetoric... knock it off DQ unless you have real policy changes you think will help the middle class..... I can't wait to hear these....

Ah, no - he delivered a simplistic stereotype and he's being hammered for it - as he should. Don't worry, Hillary is likely to do something stupid any minute and that will change the news cycle.

... I'm not sure about that ... Obama is proving to be a very talented campaigner and I think McCain will be on the defensive. I think this will be a very close election and the one with the most baggage to deal with is McCain.

While I like McCain better than Bush or even Obama ... I'm not sure any Republican can deal with the perception about the last 8 years. A bad economy and a war will sink the good ship Republican.

bbk
With that prediction coming from you I feel better.... ;)

What I really want is divided government, I'd be very happy with a R POTUS and D Congress....

For those of you who still don't really understand what Obama meant. Take a look at this which is more Explicitly stated all the way back in 2004 on Charlie Rose.

Take a look...

Of all places I found out about this tape on Fox News lol.

I thought the comment was 100% understandable

The intrepretation of Obama's comments have alot to do with the reader or listener's own bias.

Personally, I think if someone tries to construe his comments as elitist or racist is looking at his comments through a biased filter

for the record, when this whole thing started I thought it would be great to have a women US president, now after how she has run her campaign I hope anyone but Hillary
