Not at all well reported has been that at the time of his death Eric Garner was out on $2,000 bail and had three misdemeanor cases pending against him, further he had previously been arrested 31 times on criminal charges dating back to when he was 16.

Misdemeanors you say??? And they were gracious enough to kill him with a choke hold instead of a hail of bullets? How selfless of them.

It at the very least goes to his resisting arrest and that he was not in fact some "gentle giant."

Yet people who have seen all 4 of the videos of this incident say police never said to him the he was under arrest. But then maybe they did it through telepathy so they didn't need to waste their breath. Or maybe NYPD policy allows police to use chokeholds only on those people NOT under arrest.

Even George W. Bush is like WTF

George W. Bush on Eric Garner case: Grand jury’s “verdict hard to understand”

Former President George W. Bush weighed in on the Eric Garner case. The nation’s 43rd president seemed confused by the grand jury’s decision not to indict the officer who choked Garner to death.”You know, the verdict was hard to understand,” Bush said during an interview with CNN.

The former president revealed that he had viewed the now infamous video capturing the choke-holding incident and thought it was “very sad.” He then added, “But I hadn’t seen all the details — but it’s sad that race continues to play such an emotional, divisive part of life.”

Bush also revealed that he spoke to Condoleeza Rice over dinner about the events in Ferguson.

“We talked about this subject, and yeah — she just said, you gotta understand that there are a lot of black folks that are incredibly, more and more, distrusting of law enforcement,” Bush said. “Which is a shame, because law enforcement’s job is to protect everybody.”

It might if he was being placed under arrest -which does not appear to be the case. When you can show where he was placed under arrest then you can say he resisted. Is there evidence he resisted in any of his arrests? Otherwise it's just spin.

You wonder why people are angry? You wonder why some even want to "burn this motherfucker to the ground"?

http://www.nleomf.org/facts/officer-fatalities-data/year.html
There has never been a year in American history where more than 300 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty.

http://www.nleomf.org/facts/officer-fatalities-data/causes.html
In 2013 only 31 LEO's were killed by a firearm, almost as many were killed in car crashes, and almost as many were killed in falls, being struck by a vehicle, and job related illnesses combined.

http://www.mintpressnews.com/us-police-murdered-5000-innocent-civilians-since-911/172029/
Yet "it’s estimated that between 500 and 1,000 Americans are killed by police officers each year."
But yeah. It's all justified.

Every effort should be made to decrease both types of killing - death by cop, and death by other black male.

Right now we're doing that by focusing on the killing of Eric by an overzealous cop.
I'm not at all sure your statement is true for anyone other than yourself. There seems to be a lot of concentrating on the small number of Blacks killed by police, and not much attention at all to the "routine" murders by other members of the community which in fact make up the vast majority of the murders of Blacks in the U.S.A.

So sad. Eric was selling "loosies" to raise money to support his 6 kids. He might have been better off just begging for spare change. Very tragic.

Also tragic for the police officer as he was just trying to enforce the law. Don't think he had any intention of hurting Mr. Garner. Now his career and possibly his life is ruined.

Not if they have laws against panhandling. (I was in Dallas November 2013 and walked from my hotel to a 7-11. An AA panhandler asked me for 20 cents while a DPD constable walking by out of the corner, said to him "You're not doing what I think you're doing?". "No sir" was his response. I gave him a few bucks.)

BTW, that cop wasn't enforcing the law. Read the previous posts here.

It is also why so much tax dollars is spent policing "the hood". I remember when Danzig happened the community was screaming that the police didn't care because there was such a low police presence. Now they are probably bitching why the police are targeting their community.

What part of resisting arrest don't you understand?
Nobody except the cops knew he was under arrest. They should have told him so.

How many times must this be repeated?
