Probably Eni since the Italians are addicted to the Libyan oil.

Funny to notice you omit TOTAL.

BTW, isn't Gulf now part of Chevron?

And it should be Exxon Mobil, not Exxon Mobile.

Another evidence to prove you are an idiot. China has 3 gigantic government-controlled oil companies that rival to any of the so-called big oil. Never heard of PTR, SNP and CEO, eh?

That being said, those privately owned big oils do have JV in China since the Chinese counterparts haven't gone up to the food chain yet.

Don't you think they are doing that already?
Nope, the Chinese prefer to do the exploration on their own, in places where the Democracies are not welcomed, say Libya, Sudan, Iran, Angola.

Pretty much explain why the Chinese oil companies actually lose big when Southern Sudan declares independence and Qaddafi is fighting for his survival. Same scenario for sanction against Iran.

Funny to notice that you have no idea PTR, SNP and CEO are all listed at NYSE.

Feel free to express your displeasure to your new sugar daddies by selling short on them.

So the fact that one faction of the military is hoping, hoping, to build some new carriers is evidence that they are:

a) cost effective;

b) will be able to survive a high intensity environment:?

Seriously?
One has little to do with the other. They seem to be more than hoping. They're doing. The aircraft carrier acts as the linch pin for a multi level, multi-dimensional, multi-discipline battle group. You're trying to look at it in the isolated case. The whole system is built around the carrier. No other country does it better.

Not a pinko like you so I don't follow them....
Nothing wrong to follow them since they are the sugar daddies for ECA and TLM here, CHK and RRC in the States going forward when it comes to fund expensive shale gas projects and more importantly get the natural gas for the Chinese consumption.

And I haven't counted big oil like Exxon Mobil's XTO division yet, LOL.

It would be interesting to know which union the floor monkey/village idiot (you choose) Woodrow belongs to, as we could then tell him that they probably invest in all the big money corporation that he so vents about. The union money doesn't just sit in a jar by the door.

Dunno but not going to be surprised the Unions are into ponzis, like Bernie Madoff and allegedly Uncle Sam.

Even they're not that stupid. Ooooops! Wrong!!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/08/madoff-scandal-hits-labor_n_156345.html

CNBC has learned that one union, the Carpenters local in Syracuse, N.Y., has lost the majority of the $100 million to $150 million it had in pension money because of its dealings with Madoff, people close to the matter said. The union's money manager, J.P. Jeanneret Associates of Syracuse, didn't return a telephone call for comment.

The Syracuse carpenters local isn't alone. Pat Morin, business manager of Empire State Carpenters Union, is sifting through the wreckage in his own portfolio, which at the end of June had around $800 million in assets under management. Morin says his fund has exposure to Madoff as well, largely the result of consolidation in union pension funds where locals like Syracuse had transferred money to his oversight.

I'm sure there's a few more. Apparently unions screw up as well.

The proper question is how many times have carrier had to defend themselves against a first world opponent...like say...China...
I'd say the better question is (and much more telling) what country (first world, a world I would not yet put China in, or otherwise) has been willing to take on a carrier..... no one is that stupid.

I wonder what % of countries have less firepower than is resident in a single carrier battle group.... and we have a dozen I believe.

The good news is that the only things that can threaten a carrier are nuclear submarines and atomic ballistic missiles. The bad news is that these two contraptions easily can take out a carrier.

Funny you mention Sudan. Didn't the loony liberals chase a good Canadian company Talisman out of Sudan? Guess the PRC is now filling the void left by Talisman. Loony liberals are so dumb (Stalin use to call them "useful fools").

You live in a dream world bottie, as you smugly twirl your Pom-Poms while jumping up & down chirping, USA-USA-USA!

Here is what the USN faces that has Admirals so worried. Those Admirals ain't twirling your pom-poms. Surely enhancements/upgrades HAVE been made to these anti-ship missile systems since their inception, which give USN Admirals even more to worry over.

The Sunburn - Iran's Awesome Nuclear Anti-Ship Missile

Who knows how many countries have missiles like this, or better, secretly tucked away ready to launch......

Do you mean Libertards? They are just as loony as the Tories and their NDP cousins.

BTW, Talisman is still a value trap and people simply could not let go on their hmm Sudan investment before 2002.

When Talisman was in the Sudan, they brought with them the concept of democracy, human rights, etc. But, the loony liberals chased Talisman out of Sudan and guess who filled the void?

If they can find the carrier and get close enough to it to take a shot, AND if that country is willing to endure the never ending glow that would be the response..... you don't want to forget that there is no place on earth that the US can't rain massive precision guidance on - tomorrow, directly from the show me state.
