I don't get it...

If I sell widgets, and I personally feel like I don't want to sell a widget to Joe Blow, I have that right.
If I cut lawns, and I personally feel like I don't want to cut Jane Smith's lawn, I have that right.
If I suck cocks, and I personally feel like I don't want to suck Winston Brown's cock, should I not also have that right?

We do live in a country of free enterprise, don't we?

Just like people have the right to choose they associate with in business, friends and other relationships it goes the same way with an escorting choosing who her client is going to be.
Does the barber have the same right?

and Joe Blow can sue you, he can say you damn well refused him widgets because he is black. And how dare you!! He has the right to widgets just like everyone else in the free world!!

and what would you do then........? you would say it had nothing to do with his colour. Obviously.
I do not have the monopoly on widgets.
Furthermore... If I have a bricks-and-mortar Widget Store, that is private property, and i have the right to ask ANYONE to leave MY private property... with reason or without.

Every week is the same shit, men complaining when a Sp chooses not to see a certain race. My body is not a consumable product like some iphone this whole race thing is just becoming extremely irritating. The whole point of the up coming prostitution ruling is to allow us sex workers the right to work in a safe environment and the ability to choose who they hire to work with if they decide to hire a driver and other staff members. and you can be damn right certain there will be another fight of what decriminalization will look like if the ruling changes in our favor. The bigger point of this fight is to stop the government from trying to control us what we do with our bodies and how we choose to work.

The idea that some man with money thinking he can use it to see any escort and then chooses to do whatever he wants with her is damn right despicable
. It's definitely not book an escort use her body and then give it back to her later like some blow up doll.

Just like people have the right to choose they associate with in business, friends and other relationships it goes the same way with an escorting choosing who her client is going to be. People need to get over the fact just because you pick up the phone and call an escort doesn't mean she is going to want to see you.

No one makes a fuss about strippers or massage girls choosing to see a certain type of client. but for some reason when it comes to escorts everyone wants to dictate who they choose to see.
Thank you for your input.

Few things. The government will get involved either way, maybe police officers will change to health inspectors, and jail sentences will change to fines. But the government will still be there, it always is. But the legality of the industry will determine whether ethnicity based restrictions take battle here in lounge, or in courts.

Also I am pretty sure it is safe to incorporate strippers and MPs in this discussion.

If you choose not to do any of the above based on religious, ethnic, or gender basis you can be criminally prosecuted.

What if it is against my personal religious beliefs to do any business with anyone named 'Jane'?
Then MY religious beliefs are being trampled on.

Nobody in any line of work is ever FORCED to business with rude / annoying / disrespectful or otherwise unsavory customers.
No one would argue that, however this topic revolves around race, not attitude.

Mind you, that is the actual problem. Some people link a particular attitude to a particular race, which may be one of several possible reasons why an escort refuses a particular race and makes it common knowledge in her ads that she won't see that particular race.

Just to clarify, even if an escort refuses a client based on race, I fully understand. She needs to feel comfortable and safe. The problem comes when it has to be argued in a public legal forum. The arguments put forth would have to be much more compelling and delicately worded than here on TERB. Saying "I don't feel comfortable or safe with this or that race" is going to be asked to further explain.

then what should be a requirement of feeling safe so you can operate properly in your job. since it's going to be boil down to safety.

cause I am thinking if an SP is put into a position of seeing someone she doesn't feel safe around that is where problems with fester.

criminally prosecuted? Forgive me ... are you sure? I thought it was a civil matter. Not an expert... can you post the section of the criminal code for reference?
I am not an expert, thought discrimination cases were criminal offense, but I might be wrong and it is civil matter. However it doesn't lessen the point that these cases will drain you financially and emotionally whether you found guilty or not.

Please do not get defensive here. All I was trying to do is explore the issues that would come up if the industry went legal.

It will probably eventually become a topic of discussion if this ever becomes legalized. A black guy hoodied up and saggy pants--dressed up like Trayvon Martin will probably be interviewed by a CP24 anchor about a prejudiced prostitute during the 6 o'clock news.

He will probably be asked a question. "But she fucks for money, why are you so offended?"

"Hmm. Good question."

I am playing Devil's advocate here, but the court might decide that in this case you should be in different line of work and simply take away your license?

like it or not, we as a society have said that certain type of people cannot be discriminated against: women, blacks, gays, etc. anyone in those groups cannot be refused service. anybody else (fat, red-heads, etc) can be. the provider will just have to be careful with what words they choose to decline the service. same as landlords. discrimination is built into the human psyche.

I thin Liberals care more about issues like this than minorities do.

Also, some of you can't seem to differentiate between a man in a suit, and a man in a hoody and baggy pants(someone who looks dangerous).

It's like that Chris Rock stand up. "I love black people, but I hate niggas." The fact some of you can't differentiate, even Ms. Ebony herself, is funny. But yet some of you workers expect clients to view you with an open minded perception. That you're human beings, smart, and intelligent and open minded women, that I know some of you are.
