When is the next Windows version going to be released? I've heard 2009, but early or late in the year?

Sure you can. I just turned on my old PC long enough to update XP Pro and the AV, haven't used it for almost a week since I'm on linux most of the time now anyway. All updates for XP went through fine.bennyboy68 said:maybe some of the 'techies' here can help me...
i'm running XP Pro 64-bit...and it's running flawlessly...
can i still get updates/sp's, etc?
After I put in SP1 on Vista, things ran better on my laptop. Before SP1 Vista was OK but buggy. I like Vista, just don't use it that much.data1960 said:If I have a choice on a new PC, I'd pick XP. Unless a user has program incompatibilities or needs to support older hardware, I believe Vista to be a satisfactory OS for a new machine for a non power user. Vista SP1 is suppose to address the performance issue.
