You should read history without a partisan bent and see how these are hallmarks of all who want power and not unique to either side of the political spectrum.
Have you read anything from 1933? Hitler rode to power on a wave of blaming the political elites and Communists for all the world's problems, condemning the media as shills for these elites that are out to foster the rise is communism and in a conspiracy against him, claiming widespread elections fraud, and labeling everyone who disagreed with him as a communist in addition to his racist anti-Semitism with "the Jewish question".
Being anti-media, ranting about "leftist elites", decrying electoral fraud with no evidence, and talking about Communism and socialism being rampant amongst the left-leaning of the general population... Hmmmm.... Sound like any people or groups today?
Two can play this game of parallels with history. Because it turns out the far left and the far right both lead to the seizing of power and elimination of rights. Censorship, misinformation and propaganda aren't unique to either side, they're tools used by both. If you look at moderates on the left and see Mao, that's on you. The same for for people who look at moderates on the right and see Hitler.
I'm well aware of that sort of action. I mean, the right-wing darlings the Nazi's burned book. Today, they just remove them from libraries. If the right really believed in the market place of ideas, why are they so against books that tell accurate depictions of history? And it's interesting how all these free speech advocates get their panties in a twist over what is taught at universities. Look at Little Ronnie DeSantis trying to impose his political views on the entire education system of Florida, from K-PhD. Imagine how Faux News would react if that happened in a Dem run state.
While the right wants to say that progressives are trying to push authoritarianism, they are basically moving heaven and hell to get it for themselves. If you look at the fascist playbook, the MAGA fools and new GOP have basically started every action required to become authoritative. They slander the mainstream media, even as Faux News admits it knowingly lied to its audience about election fraud and conspiracies. They cry about liberal education while they assert control over what is allowed to be taught in school.
So, before you get all silly about Mao, Stalin and the other idiot left-wing psycho dictators, remember that the far right is pushing for similar things right here, right now.
