You mean an e-bike isn't a magical vehicle that can traverse roads, bike lanes, and sidewalks with little regard for anything? It also doesn't help that food delivery guys seem to have standardized on them, and they want their

i cant stand e-bike delivery drivers, they almost never adhere to right of way and on more than one occasion ive almost been hit because these idiots dont pay attention and stop and just use bike lanes like their own personal road

And sure as shit, I saw one today almost clip a smoking hot girl (mama- mia) with her 2 mixed rescues.
I stopped to see if her dogs were okay, she really yanked on their leashes.
She told me she just got them 3 weeks ago from the Toronto Humane Society.
The guy ran up the sidewalk, avoided two people and after the second person, she came around with her 2 pups, normal walking pace and he gave it some throttle to beat her to the corner (which was 5 ft away and he had to wait for the red light regardless).
Her dogs were slightly ahead of her, she pulled them back real hard, they yelped. The guy just looked, no sorry, no nod, nothing.
An Asian woman called him stupid, the woman with the dogs told him to "stay on the fucking road" and was pretty shook.
It happened at The Esplanade and Front, tons of people and their dogs there.
As an E bike rider, I agree. Mine is bike path legal, proper safety equipment, pedals, and a speed inhibitor. I have a 750 motor but that is for torque on hills and has no effect on mph.
I see what are essentially electric motorcycles on the paths. The unicycles are way over powered. And so are some scooters. I see various types hitting 50km per hour.
They need to set up some good sting operations, confiscate the various offenders, and clean up the paths for people.

I would add the Lance Armstrong wanna bees are also out now. Stripped down bikes, no reflectors. And going over 40km per hour. And they don't stop, and take bad risks with weaving in and out.
I ride my regular bicycle on the bike path often and have had no issues with food delivery guys on ebikes. They pass safely after tooting their horn.
its ridiculous these people, i saw another one today on the way home he was in the bike lane on his ebike looking at his phone and almost ran into a car as he was crossing the intersection

Um, no. We are not in a legal grey area. I'm completely street legal and path legal. The “hobby” I was speaking of was the hobby that drew us to this site bud. I’m assuming everyone on this website actively participates, curious about participating or at least supports the activities discussed on this website. It is indeed in a legally grey area. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough.

Of course the "hobby" is legally grey. Use of paths and sidewalks by certain vehicles is not. Its quite clear. Apples and oranges. And the lounge is for other topics too.
Its my daily commute. Almost 20km. One way. So I see it all. The volume increases in accidents warrants a good look at this.

If you drive in the city you can relate to this stuff, it's the Wild East out there. These guys do anything stupid and a car is involved, the driver of the car is screwed because that person was reckless.
They need to be licensed and insured, it's only right, "part of the risk, part of the solution".
I honestly wouldn't care if they did. But the shortcuts they pull, cutting me off with no warning, and so on, hell no.
