As per Kyle Dubas: Nick Robertson will join the team and train during Phase 2 & Phase 3. For Phase 4 and beyond, he must earn that.
By all accounts, NR is making a pretty strong case to stick with the team for the rest of this season. Would be nice to see him in the lineup if only just to see what he could accomplish on adrenaline alone. Very talented kid. Could be a surprise breakout dark horse for the TML.

Shack will love you for this one. Gretzky won it 5 times. End of discussion.
As well he should RIP. Shack and Gretzky each won 4 Stanley Cups. Gretzky was already with the LA Kings when the Oilers won it in 90. He got away with a high stick to Doug Gilmour to get into the 93 Final, losing to a grinding Habs team backstopped by Patrick Roy.

Habs suck
Maybe instead of "Les Glorieux", which has not been appropriate for almost 3 decades, they should be "Les Glory Holes".

Out of curiosity...given I've always run a NHL Playoffs pool every year for at least 25 years, wondering if/how others are running theirs.

I've created a hybrid 'pick 'em' pool with groups of players comprised from teams in the round robin, and other groups comprised of players from play-in teams. Added a group for picking a goaltender, and another wild card group for players returning from lengthy injuries who may now be ready in time for the playoffs. Pool participants pick a total of 25 players plus a goalie - most total points wins.

Anyone else running or planning to participate in anything similar?

I've been in one since the mid-70's, only had 8 teams to deal with. We even used to do in-draft trades, subject to group approval.

We are not doing it this year. There was very little interest. We usually have 12-14 guys and we go 14 rounds. We pick drafting order out of a hat. 1-12 and then 12-1 on the way back up. I'm not even sure of the playoff set up this year but I agree that this year must be more complex than previous years.

If you're referring to training camp for this year's playoffs then sure Robertson is in the group of 28.

He won't be playing unless there are injuries though.
Included in tonight's lineup for the Toronto Maple Leafs is 18 year old Nick Robertson.
1st 18 year old to make his NHL debut in the *playoffs* since some guy named Jerome Iginla.

IMO the key factors in determining the outcome of this serious :

1. Andersen - what’s new ? Andersen has been prone to slow starts in his Leafs’ career so far and hasn’t had much success in the playoffs.

2. How well will the Leafs deal with the physicality that I’m sure the Blue Jackets will throw at them ?

3. Matthews, Marner and Nylander will have to play their best. I’m a bit concerned with the condition of Matthews as COVID-19 has been known to have lingering effects.

He's taking Johnnson's spot. Same player more or less. Small, fast, good shot.
I doubt he plays if Johnnson was available.

1st star for the Leafs was easily Matthews. Tavares and Marner were almost invisible.

1st star for CBJ (I hate typing that. I'm a BBBJ guy) was Torts. He had a solid game plan and coached his team so that they could execute it. Leafs did not play poorly but they got stuffed in the Columbus end of the ice.

Fire wagon hockey wins in regular season but in the playoffs a good structured defence can stifle a good offence. The Blue Jackets win majority of one on one battles and all it took was just one bad goal by Andersen to win the game for them.

The game could have gone either way. Basically a one nothing game. CBJ did look like the more cohesive team though and they have 2 pillars on defense. No surprise there on their forchecking prowess and we all know who would win the one on one battles even before the series started. Marner did not look like Marner. Passes to no one, no vision, no patience, no plays. Leafs are built for offense. A team built for offense scoring zero goals is not going to do it. CBJ looked like the better team. They deserved the win.

Well said! Disappointed game by the Leafs. Hopefully, they learned. It's only the game one.

Go Leafs Go!!!
