My understanding is that is an OHIP card is used for testing g at a Hassle Free clinic, your records will show that youve had STD testa done and can be pulled up by other physicians in the future. Is this true?

Trying to keep this as off the record as possible -- if I "forget" my card when I go to the Hassle Free, would there be an issue?

I understand you can herpes type 2 without knowing it....is there a test for this ? Especially if you are not showing anything ?
You can have both types of herpes without knowing it. Hassle Free Clinic won't do a blood test for herpes because they consider it unreliable. Your doctor may though.

Incidentally, Hassle Free Clinic also won't test men for trich, even if you have recently had a partner who had it.

Last time I went to Hassle Free they really, really put the screws on me to give them my health card. Left, came back, told them I was a nonresident and they didn't ask again.

If you went to hassle free, you don't have test results for trichomoniasis (assuming you're male) because they don't test for it, so that would be the most likely thing you have if you have any symptoms. Trich is the second most frequent STD behind chlamydia. If you do have symptoms, go back, talk to the doc, he'll just give you a one-time dose of Flagyl. I speak from experience.

If you've never had an initial outbreak, then the likelihood you have genital herpes is low. Possible but low. And you'd know if you had an initial outbreak because the initial outbreak tends to be painful (particularly HSV-2; though these days there is a decent amount of genital HSV-1). BTW, if you have an outbreak/sores, Hassle Free will test the sores for herpes. They just won't do a blood test.

For those of US that travel frequently, are the reporting laws less strict in Quebec and State side?

Where are people getting the idea that STIs are mandatory to report in Ontario? As far as I know, the only one that has a mandatory reporting requirement in Ontario is HIV (that's why you can book separate totally anonymous HIV testing at the Hassle Free Clinic, which gets around the law for some reason).

The doctor isn't going to tell your SO that you got tested..
I can understand the family doc is bound by code of privacy and confidentiality. But just thinking aloud what IF spouses share the same GP who is a lady. And if some or one of tests for the guy is positive - wouldn't the GP be sympathetic to the lady spouse, morally speaking....

HIV, chancroid, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis are all reportable. There are actually a remarkable number of reportable diseases aside from STIs:

Thanks for that -- interesting. That's reportability to the ministry of health though, not mandatory reportability to recent partners. In my experience, even massage clubs with client databases don't contact you (either directly or anonymously) when a provider you've recently seen has been diagnosed with one of the reportable diseases.

Thanks , still no signs ! Not sure how long it can stay dormant until you get an outbreak

Anyone who sees an mpa and does off menu services or sees an so and does get tested is incredibly stupid no offence .
Regardless of if you see 1 or more ladies it's doesn't matter . They see other men on a regular basis to make money . Even if they get tested monthly they can still catch something at any time ! It doesn't mean you don't need to get tested

Getting tested is easy. There are sexual health clinics all over Ontario.
The never ask for ID or Health Card, they only ask for a name and phone number and they ask if you have a health card, but they don't want to see it.
If and when they need to contact you, if you give them permission to, they will say it is Hope calling.
I get tested twice a year, just in case.

Hassle Free in Toronto definitely asks for your health card number, unless (i) you go in for the anonymous HIV testing, or (ii) you claim to be a nonresident of Canada.

Wrong.

I've been tested 6 times over the years, full tests, never showed card or ID.

They asked me IF I am an Ontario resident and IF I have health card, but didn't want to see it.
