How long is the typical visit at Hassle Free Clinic?
Any where from an 1 hour to 3 hours depending when you go and how busy it is. Usually it's busiest on Saturdays and afternoons. Tues and Thursday mornings are best. Fridays are no good for regular STI testing, it's reserved for HIV testing. If you don't like to wait to can get your GP to test you for STI.

Really? I don't think I've ever waited 1hr. I normally go Sat mornings and the wait is around 20-30min, per usual walk-in clinic.

Why is it important to know if it was with a male or female ? You could also have anal sex with females

There may be bi-guys receiving anal sex here among us on Terb, gasp! Anyways, if you visit the HFC, you will see gay men vastly outnumber straight at that clinic.... if you have any gaydar at all.

They have a very carefully worded script of questions, that is non-judgemental.
* Have you had sex with one long term partner or casual sex with multiple partners?
* Did you have vaginal sex? (yes) anal sex? (giving) Using protection? (yes)
* Have you had oral sex? (yes) receiving or giving (both) Using condom? (no)

They don't ask how many partners or if you are gay or straight.
Anyone that hobbies with any regularity should get tested. It's not a big deal.

You should test regularly whether you have symptom or not if you are into DFK and BBBJ. I do go to Hassle Free clinic every 8 to 10 months or so and I was lucky to find out about 2 yrs ago I had Chlamydia without any symptoms at all. I guess I got that from a very busy deep throat specialist I saw a week or so before the testing. They just called me in for medication, gave me one dose of 3 orange color pills and asked me to refrain from sex for a week. That was it. I was a bit worried after that and googled Chlamydia to get more info. Chlamydia is not that bad for a man but not so much for a lady.

I also saw one native looking milf grabbing condoms into a plastic bag last yr while I was there. The staffs there saw her as well but said nothing.

BTW...They never ask you any health card nor ID. All they ask is a phone number or mailing address to contact you if need be. I even drove a Korean SP on student visa for check up and she was amazed at how easy it was and told me she saw lots of women in there. She just use a fake name and fake address and gave her cell number. She grabbed some condoms as well..lol.

Most of the time a FIRST STREAM urine test (pee directly into the cup) replaces the urethral swab test. I just wanted to say that, because getting a routine STI test DOES NOT INCLUDE A URETHRAL SWAB. And I didn't want anyone to be scared away from it.

Also - Hassle Free will see you if you have a health card or not.

Carry on. :D

Are clinics allowed to report clients who admit paying for sex under bill c-36 ?
Clinics and doctors honestly don't care... They are required to report suspected child abuse, instances where they fear a patient may hurt themselves or other, etc. but I doubt they could care less about someone's personal sexual conduct - especially in light of a highly arbitrary, paternalistic law that now suddenly makes purchase of sex illegal.

Is anal sex more common in gay couples than straight couples ? I'm not talking about the proportion but the occurrences given that 90% of population is straight , men would have more chances of having anal sex with a female than a male
Wha?? You mean like with a strap on dildo? Do you mean receiving or giving anal with female?
agh, you're not making any sense.
just use a condom and go visit the HFC.

Yes but with Bill C-36 I wouldn't incriminate myself for the record.

On top of yo mama!
thinking about testing myself more often nowadays that i am getting older. wondering about going to a hassle free clinic or whether i should go to my regular GP for a check-up?

i dont mind going to the GP if i am doing an annual physical anyways so i can explain it away. however, i dont want a detailed record for the SO to find out about either. Nor have a hassle with the insurance co in the future if i am looking for more coverage.

does the hassle free clinic ask for any ID or health card? do u guys give a fake address or name name even? is a walk in clinic better?
btw, do they give u a copy of the results as proof if you want it?

thanks.

Hassle free, planned parenthood is completely confidential. You give your healthcard but any testing you have done will only be shared and given to you:). You should definitely be able to get a copy of the results.

Go!
It don't cost nuthin.
You might meet someone while you wait.
I go twice a year.
No muss, no fuss.
You know you're good and you won't cause anyone else any grief.
Don't take the condoms though. Not bragging at all, but the ones I took were sized more for my thumb than my dick.:preggers:

So close and yet so far.
I've been once, but I plan to go twice a year--next time in June. They never asked for my health card, and I didn't offer it. They did ask for my full name, address and phone number and I gave it to them. I was told later that I should have used a fake one, as they don't check. Oh well, too late now.

I thought that they had to report you to the authorities if you are infected. (Disclosure: I have gone and was always negative.)

If you had given them fake contact info, how would they give you the test result?

Edit: silly me, they post the results on their public website with a photo of your face, taken with the hidden camera, as you entered the clinic.

You call them back a few days later for the results. Just don't forget your fake name, I guess.

Edit as well: Of course the photo and results on their website makes it a lot easier!

GTA & Thereabouts...
I went to one in Peel Region when I felt a burning... Turned out to be a reaction to a condom. Anyways, the Peel nurse was extremely nice and asked questions which I was honest about. My answers had her asking if I needed someone to talk to. I honestly thought she cared and could handle a needle like no other... I would recommend. They only call if there is an issue. They leave a message on your cell phone using a false name.

http://hasslefreeclinic.org/ or if people want their privacy policy it's here: http://hasslefreeclinic.org/home/about-hfc/confidentiality-policy/

The gist of it is: They'd prefer a health card to bill OHIP, but they'll test anybody as a matter of public service. Everything is confidential unless they are compelled by a court (and there'd be nobody to file a court order if you have 1/2 an ounce of common sense), or compelled by the law. AFAIK, the law in this case would be to notify any listed partners via the ministry of health for most STIs. With that being said, if you're talking about a wife or common law partner, and there was any chance you passed anything to them, lying about their existence just means you'll infect yourself again. Which kind of defeats the purpose. In that case of casual partners where you know you're NOT the only person that's been there recently, the ministry letter doesn't name you, so uhh, be as honest as you can be.

edit: If you have a 'monogamous' partner, and have separate doctors, you might do better cooking something up with your family doctor. She's on antibiotics because you have an UTI. Cough. Cough.
