My tastes for movies and TV shows tend to go outside of Hollywood and I look to other countries for entertainment, I have tried to give several chances to the likes of The Wire, Breaking Bad and GOT and just lost interest barely after the first season. Anyway Netflix has some very interesting international shows I have come across and really liked, I would recommend The Mechanism (Brazil) Occupation (Norway) and A Very Secret Service (France) does anyone have anything else they would recommend of any genre?

Use a VPN and you get way more variety of shows
yes I have subscribed to Nord VPN and it works perfectly, just got to find a good site which lists what shows are linked to which country's Netflix, havent found an excellent one yet. Some good recommendations, 3% from Brazil (a country that I spent some time in last year and loved) I tried to watch but all the milenials, their antics and the low production quality just didnt get me, the Mechanism also from Brazil is superb, based on the huge corruption scandal where one former president is now in prison for and another was impeached.

Why wouldnt you watch it in the original Portuguese with English subtitles? I have zero tolerance for dubbing as it loses the emotion of the actor.
I find that I miss a lot of what is going on because I'm constantly reading. I may try again.

100% agree with this comment. You need to feel the language of emotion and mood as intended. English dubs never come close and fucks up the art form.

I watched the fist season of 3% and liked it, but yes when you dont speak the language its a bit hard to follow and you actually have to focus on the show compare to have it in background.
In term of international and sex work Much Loved (its Arabic and French) is about high end (ish) escorts in Morrocco and I personally love it and recommend it

Having interest in the Middle East I watched Much Loved and was shocked at how graphic it was for a part of the world that is very conservative, lots of hotties in that movie ( IMO North African ie Moroccan, Tunisian women are gorgeous) and a good story, so yes I would also recommend it.

I always use subtitles, even with all the UK crime series. I love them but sometimes don't understand the accents or slang (tosser, wanker, bent bastard).

Speaking of UK crime shows, I'm watching Line of Duty. Totally outrageous, off the wall , unbelievable and full of holes you can drive a truck through. But it's great. How can you not like a series that has dialogue like this (cop talking to a 13-year-old kid):

"If you carry on like this, the place you are going has 16-year-olds, 17-year-olds and they are built like brick sheds, how do you think you'll fare against one of those lads? They knock your teeth out Ryan; they do that so you give a better blow job."
