I need a new car. Admittedly I don't know shit about cars and don't need to learn the details beyond what I need to make an informed decision.

Looking for something in the compact Luxury sport sedan area.
Was thinking about the BMW 335i?

I do a lot of highway driving and needs to be good for the winter.

I know there is a lot of knowledgeable car people around here. Thanks for the advice folks.

Good question. Thanks.
I'd like something fast and slick. Never have had a sports car.
Do not a lot of space. Do not need extras or fancy gizmos.
Manual transmission.
Perhaps convertible.
Disregard price for now.

You might enjoy the Nissan Murano. Sports car ride (very firm) quick, 4 wheel drive.

Infiniti G gets good write ups. Has AWD option and manual but I'm not sure if that's in all models, coupe and sedan plus convertible hardtop.

I drive the 323i and I freaking love it. My 2nd bmw and I dont think I would ever switch back. Parkview BMW on Leslie is wicked, service and sales. Send me a pm if you want me to hook you up with my sales guy there.

I was looking at the 335i and I ended up getting an Infiniti G37xS sedan. It roomier, has more features, and was less expensive.

I have a 3-series and also love it.

As far as "babe magnet" cars go, it's been a huge source of consternation for me that girls I like aren't impressed by a BMW at all, whereas they see a big Ford pickup truck and they love it.

I just can't stomach the idea of driving a pickup truck.

335 is a really nice car, highly recommended by me....or you could go with a Mercedes C350 which is comparable....it's a sports sedan. There is also the Audi A5 with the S-Line package on it. The A5 S-Line packaga will run you the same as the 335, but the A5 is Sex on wheels.....!!!! for someone who wants to drive, then I would go with the 335, you can't beat BMW for the drivability of a car.

Loaded Toyota Camry. The freaking thing will last forever. Way cheaper than a BMW, so more hobby money (at least 1-2 sessions/month), and a damn nice car too.

A vette? Oh sure. It's the perfect car for what he asked for, especially given his requirements.

Sport Utility Compact Sedan for the winter?

Definitely the 2010 Audi A5

Best buy for the comparable $$$
Didn't Audi pull the A5 out of dealerships last year for QC issues?

Hooper, are you a tall guy? If not, I think the Audi A4 or even better - the S4 is the car for you. It's better built than the BMW or the Mercedes C class, has a great motor, and handles well, and will return decent mileage ...

Forget the vette. Not well built, and you run the risk of become a stereotype.

Look at the 335xi. It has all wheel drive. Stay away from the convertible. It has a folding hard top which, when down, leaves just enough room in the trunk for a pizza box. It also has the added bonus of adding over 400 lbs to the car's weight.
