Good point r2r. I'm 6 2 I guess give or take.
You think the 335i would be too small for me?

Any thoughts on the r8 Audi.
Good lord! R8 !!!!!! from a BMW 335i, if that's the case, then I would go with the R8, but you're not getting around in Winter with that car!

Ok, the A4 / S4 is going to be too small for you. The A6 / S6 is a nice size sedan, but boring. Wait, read that as BORING. It runs well, it's well built, but it's mechanical perfection lulls you to sleep. Not an exciting drive.

The 3 series is a tad bit bigger - but not much. Have you driven a new 5 series. You can get the 335 motor in the 5 series - though I'm not sure what it costs....... I'm 6'4". I have a 2008 550i - it fits me well - but is costly to drive around in the city (all the stop and go kills my gas mileage) and I'd like something smaller so it is easier to park. I'm going to look at a Camry - or something of that size / caliber to replace my 550i as a daily driver. The Camry fits me well. Somebody else mentioned the Infinity sedans. I've driven those - very nice as well - but I didn't like the dash board.

The R8 is a beautiful car. The car is over 100k, and the overall upfront costs would be too high for me, and the operating costs (especially with my driving record) would be prohibitive. Still, if you get one, you'll have to take me out for a drive one day...

Really? I was told r8 was fine in the winter (awd) but I guess it's still impractical.
just throwing options out.
Thanks for all suggestions.
Well, being AWD it would be ok for Winter, but keep in mind, you're driving $120K car! Most people garage that car as their toy for the weekends.

I think the A5 would be ok, it's a 2-door sports car, looks to be the size of the A6 i think....i'm 5'10 and I drive an Accord Coupe, there is a lot of room in that car, and the A5 is much bigger!

The A5 is a nice looking car; I just worry about the quality

Look at the 335xi. It has all wheel drive. Stay away from the convertible. It has a folding hard top which, when down, leaves just enough room in the trunk for a pizza box. It also has the added bonus of adding over 400 lbs to the car's weight.

Good points. That sounds like my kinda thing. Thx.

I have a 3-series and also love it.

As far as "babe magnet" cars go, it's been a huge source of consternation for me that girls I like aren't impressed by a BMW at all, whereas they see a big Ford pickup truck and they love it.

I just can't stomach the idea of driving a pickup truck.
I guess size really does matter!

For some unknown and strange reasons, I clicked on this thread and read the whole thing.

To my surprise, all this car talk sound somewhat sexy. Like a guy talking in italian to me: I have no idea what he's talking about, but it sounds sexy.

Weird.

Ok I think it's time to ramp up the car talk ( maybe in Italian) ;)

I need a new car. Admittedly I don't know shit about cars and don't need to learn the details beyond what I need to make an informed decision.

Looking for something in the compact Luxury sport sedan area.
Was thinking about the BMW 335i?

I do a lot of highway driving and needs to be good for the winter.

I know there is a lot of knowledgeable car people around here. Thanks for the advice folks.

BMW 3 series are fine cars, until winter-time. All that HP + small light body + man. trans. + RWD = major fish-tailing. I've had 2 and learned it the hard way.

Get any BMW with the ix AWD system & you'll be just fine.

Don't overlook the Nissan Altima and Maxima. I think the Altima coupe is one of the best looking cars out there for $35,000 fully loaded and the maintenance won' t make you feel like you being hosed. A lot of people but serious cars and then can't handle the maintenance.
