When I read the title of this Thread I was hoping to find pictures of girls 'necking' in front of Celines place.
Celine Dion bought Schwartz's deli about a year and a half ago.

Screw you, I saw what you did !!!!! Their all from Schwartz's
No, they are not all Schwartz's smoked meat sandwiches. They are from different places.

Schwartz's may be more famous but for most of us who don't live in Montreal, Reuben's Deli on Rue St. Catherine is more convenient.
Reuben's is not nearly are popular as Schwartz's. The second most popular place was Ben's delicatessen. Developers bought Ben's out to build a big office building. When I use to go to McGill U. we use to call the place Ben's Gays because all the waiters were flaming gays. The last time I was at Ben's a waiter was hysterically wrestling with a Boston tourist that came up to Montreal and bought a Cuban cigar and was smoking it in the restaurant. The waiter was holding his nose with one hand and trying to take the cigar with the other all the while making wooping noise, and the Boston tourist was yelling Maaagerly, Maaagery. he is trying to take my ci-gahhh! I paid twenty five dallahs for that cigahhh!!!

You are telling me the smoked meat sandwiches at Centre Street Deli taste like "boiled hot dogs"? No way man!!! I have had boiled hot dogs and I have had a few sandwiches at Centre Street...and they taste nothing alike!!

Centre street is well known for their deli sandwiches, and their knishes are awesome!!

The #2 sandwich is a Schwartz's smoked meat sandwich.

#1 is a Lester's smoked meat sandwich from Montreal. A cheap imitation of a Schwartz's smoked meat sandwich.

#2 is the real deal Schwartz's smoked meat sandwich. Hand sliced meat.

# 3 is a Estrella's Montreal Deli smoked meat sandwich from Metro Vancouver. http://www.estrellasdeli.com/ It is machine sliced. You could get a similar sandwich in Montreal down the street from Schwartz's at the Slovania charcouterie ( deli counter ) for $3.50. Take away or eat at the stand up counter.

I wish I could pick lottery ticket winners or bullish stocks like I did the smoked meat sandwich.

FYI - If any of you guys suddenly have smoked meat urges that you have to satisfy. I suggest thin rye bread, toasted. Dijon mustard 20%mixed with mayonnaise 60% and 20% Presidents choice horse radish mayonnaise.

Or
Reuben Sandwich

Rye bread toasted, add thin layer of sourer kraut on top of smoked meat and a slice of cheddar cheese ( with some Dijon/horse radish mayonnaise ) Toast till cheese melts.

They make good sandwiches over at the centre street deli!!

I agree, but nothing like the schwartz.
When I worked at the deli in montreal, the cutter made 1G/week CASH, this was 30 years ago.
you can order lean or medium and speck if you want.

Good god man, adding condiments to a smoke meat sandwich, just buy dunns and slap that crap on it.

I don't care if someone chooses to be a vegan, but don't impose it on me. If they do, they are pure wackos and fascists.
Holding up signs in no way "imposes" anything on anybody. Holding up signs has nothing to do with fascism.

I've had the Reuben at Katz's Deli in NY, the Yorkdale version should be called Cazz's Deli. The best Reuben I've had in Toronto is at The Musket.

And I'll no longer be eating at Schwartz's, I wont support separatists.

I wouldn't like it if I was the shop owner, since they seem to be blocking the store front (too close). Depends what the signs says too.

My comment was a bit of a knee jerk reaction to a Vegan who I spoke to on a chat line. She explained how it was a healthier lifestyle and that vegan's were more intelligent too, and that this what she was looking for in a mate. I explained that she might not find that many out here and that perhaps she might have more luck searching on a Vegan-only dating site. She shot back "Don't tell me what to do", which was hypocritical since she was mocking omnivores and imploring upon them to change their diets. She was a Vegan-Nazi it seems. I told her that maybe her brain had a protein deficiency. (I don't have anything against Vegans btw).

Her place
Why not? It's a restaurant. The place mat has 'fine deli products' in its print. Maybe it's a paper one they put down that includes their history. We will await the verdict.

(Jesus, now I feel like going to Centre Street Diner, or Montreal Bistro or Shopsies or the Pickle Barrel).
Pickle Barrel???? (if there was a 'slap some sense into' smiley...now would be the time to bring it out)

What/where is Montreal deli?

That was your fault bro. No one told you to order the boiled hot dog sandwich so its hardly fair to bitch after the fact

FWIW, CSD's corned beef is better than their smoked meat

What are you talking about? Even my Jewish friends will say CSD is good (I like the tongue there).
Their corned beef is blubbery and pink. You don't need teeth to eat it. They taste great, but I think a good sandwich needs some texture and more spice.

Panzers was the best home prepared pastrami for years before selling out (they were on bathurst), now the sandwiches there are prepared by a rude prick with bad breath and BO. Wolfies on Sheppard are good.

Pickel Barrel isn't bad.

The Montreal Deli has been here for 30 years.

Apparently, there's one in Richmond Hill too. Maybe I'll pick up a sandwich for lunch tomorrow.

BTW, there's also another deli at the Bayview Shopping Centre. Max's I think. It's very good.
