It turns out lead Tory asshole that was grilling Mulcair had to pay back money to the house of commons for using parliamentary money in his election campaign. And what a joke someone as honourable as Mulcair being grilled by Tory and Liberal crooks.
The Speaker of the House cares, and the Star cares. Looks like the NDP lied about getting approval for their dirty little scheme:

So no Mulcair has been caught lying to Parliament in order to cover up his scheme to steal tax money.
Now they have been caught using free commons MP mail to ask for political donations and other partisan campaigning:

NDP is doing a dance trying to blame the Speaker, but if they really stuck requests for political donations into free commons mail, there is no question that they are waaaaay over the line.

The Speaker still hasn't been heard from directly on how he answered what the NDP said was their request for an advance ruling. If he actually did say, "Sure, go ahead," or anything much other than, "Of course you can't do that," then it isn't as open and shut as you're painting it.
To the modern pol, any hair's breadth opening looks a mile wide. And every tiny opportunity exists to be exploited until you're actually stopped.
Dirty is spending $2.5 million advertising the conservatives by advertising a program that didn't exist.
Ah yes, but you see there are no rules to punish the mis-spending of government advertising dollars. Anmd as anyone in government will tell you, and the present government has "They all do it".
