After Texas and Oklahoma agreed to leave for the SEC, it shook up college sports and destroyed the Big 12. The SEC has better TV networks deals $$$$$, and TX, OK didn't want to left out. Winning the National title is secondary to bringing in tons of cash year after year.
When USC and UCLA saw that and what the PAC 12 was offering as TV deals, such as Apple TV, they were looking to bolt as well. The B1G(big 10) was offering almost double what the PAC 12 could offer.
Once the other top teams/schools in the PAC 12 realized they can't stop USC & UCLA from leaving. Oregon and Washington said, well if you can't beat them, might as well join them and rake in a lot more money. The PAC 12 is basically dead now.
Of course this all being driven by the networks and the networks want good match-ups to sell to the viewer. For example, Mich vs UCLA or Ohio St. vs USC is a much better TV ratings getter, than Mich vs Indiana or Ohio St. vs Illinois. I am a Mich fan(Go Blue) and follow B1G football, so I would watch Mich play anybody, but TV networks wants the biggest mass audience it can get. Which means more ad money they can sell, and more money they give these schools.
I do feel sorry for the other sports, imagine UCLA Women's Volleyball having to travel to Rutgers for a Tuesday night game. They are going to have to work something out for the other sports,

It is all about football.
The other sports do matter if they play conference games or not. They will just do conference tournament and no regular season. What other sport makes money.

You make some great points. NCAA has always been a business. These schools need to do what is best for the bottom line of the school. UCLA and USC in the big 10 makes no sense. But the extra 30-40 million sure does. Crazy how much money college sports brings in the US.

Hmmm not sure on that 1.
Both teams have new QB's this year.
I think USC will be right up there in the mix.
Michigan can never win in the playoffs.
Ohio State? Same situation as Bama and GA.
I want to see a dark horse make a run for National title.
Having said all that, I really do wish nothing but bad luck for ND.
My dark horse teams are LSU, Texas, Washington and Florida St.
As a big Mich fan, growing up the two teams/schools I hated the most were N. Dame and Ohio St(of course).
I still remember ND beating by beloved Wolverines on a last second 51 yd FG in 1980....I cried like a baby!

I am not sold on ND. They lost their QB and amazing TEs. They always play a tough schedule. Having Ohio State and Clemson on the schedule this year makes it tough. IMG_4332.jpeg

Any Heisman predictions?
Caleb Williams Heisman Odds To Win, 2023
Caleb Williams, the USC quarterback, is currently +500 to win the Heisman Trophy.

Williams profiles very similarly to former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who won the Heisman in 2021. He opened the 2022 market near the top of the Heisman odds table and carried a sizable handle through the season’s opening month.

Jayden Daniels Heisman Odds To Win, 2023
Jayden Daniels, the LSU quarterback, is currently +900 to win the Heisman Trophy.

Daniels’ path to the Heisman is simple. LSU has an elite coach and a history of winning at a high level.

If LSU can upgrade from divisional winner to conference winner, Daniels will have major Heisman credibility based almost purely on his team’s accomplishments.

Sam Hartman Heisman Odds To Win, 2023
Sam Hartman, the new Notre Dame quarterback, is currently +1600 to win the Heisman Trophy.

Hartman was incredibly successful at a mostly irrelevant Wake Forest football program. Now that he’s transferred to a much more high-profile position as the Notre Dame quarterback, Hartman will be an instant Heisman contender.

I took the -31.5. only loss on my proline ticket!!
I used to play ProLine ages ago when the odds were better. Your experience reminded me of back then, I used to call those tickets , 1 game f*** ups ! Going forward, let's say this happened to be the last game on your ticket, don't take any other west coast games and go onto your online account, let's say FD and hedge a few dollars so you come out with a profit if USC or the dog wins, that way the USC ticket doesn't go to waste.

I would also add North Carolina's QB Drake Maye, some are even saying he's a better pro prospect than Caleb Williams. I don't know his odds for winning the Heisman, but the dude is a stud.

Yep, N.D. got a upgrade at QB with Sam Hartman, he's a really good QB and has a ton of playing experience from playing at W.F. I don't think Hartman will win the Heisman, because of the style of offense the Irish run. He won't have the stats he put up at W.F., but he will have more wins. Side note, I believe N. Dame plays Ohio St. in a couple of weeks.

In 2030, who would be the greatest ACC QB ever ? John Elway or Aaron Rodgers ? :D

or who had better NFL careers among these legendary RBs from current Big Ten schools: Reggie Bush, OJ Simpson, Marcus Allen, ?:ROFLMAO:
Well those RB's you mentioned never attended a current big ten school.

All the US sports analysts are suggesting that Arizona Cardinals tank, to pick Caleb Williams in the next draft. LV bookies agree and predict ARZ to have
the worst season . It's expensive betting, but if you believe those theories, just take ARZ's opponent on the M/L every single game. .( and pray for zero upsets or you'll be net net under water .

The greatest sports story of the weekend was the Colorado University Buffaloes defeating TCU Horn Frogs in Fort Worth, TX 45-42. TCU was the CFP finalist last year.

Colorado hired Deion Sanders from Jackson State. Except no one calls him Sanders. He is called Coach Prime after his Prime Time nickname during his NFL days.

Colorado had a record of 1-12 last year and lost several games by more than 30 points. Faced with this Herculean task, Coach Prime got rid of 80 players and brought in 56 via transfer, including his sons QB Shedeur and safety Shilo. He was mocked. That it was too much change and they stood no chance against TCU. Odds makers had Colorado losing by 20. With all eyes on the match, Shedeur Sanders torched TCU 38-47 for 510 yards and 4 TDs. Then there was Travis Hunter who plays both offense and defense. He made a red zone interception and caught 8 passes for 119 yards. He was on the field for a mind boggling 130 snaps.

After the match, Coach Prime was all "modesty," asking reporters if they believed now and several one liners. Colorado has two legitimate Heisman candidates. And their games are all must see now. Let the show go on.

Following his impressive performance against TCU, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders has seen his NIL jump to $3.8 million from $1.3 million, more than several NFL players are paid.
The NIL benefits very few players. Majority get next to nothing. Meanwhile, coaches, Athletic Directors, NCAA administrators rake in millions. That is the sham of college athletics

It was brought in when players wanted to be paid.

Early days but the Heisman seems to be a 3-way battle between Caleb Williams of USC, Shedeur Sanders of Colorado and Michael Penix of Washington. Penix - what a name 😭

Texas over Alabama in Tuscaloosa no less. The decline of the Tide is in full swing.
Colorado over Nebraska in Boulder. The Buffaloes will make noise in the CFP if they keep this up.

How far apart are the Wolverines and the Spartans? And what is the deciding factor in making someone choose to support one or the other?
