American college football fans it's time to rejoice, unless you're a Nebraska fan. New season gets its real start this weekend, so time to make some money on all those college games. I'm a B1G fan(Go Blue) and SEC hater, so I hope Bama goes down hard this year, also tired of Clemson. This should be the last year of Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, if he can't beat Ohio St. which he won't. Post any good betting/wagering tips for upcoming games.

Since we’re on the topic. Do you think the BIG 12 will expand?
I think they will, they say the Big 12 is looking at Houston and BYU, but nothing can replace Texas and Oklahoma. Let's face it, the Big 12 is screwed and I wouldn't be surprised if it dissolves in a couple of years. With teams like Iowa St and Kansas maybe going to the Big Ten and other teams like Baylor going to the Pac-12. It seems college football will turn into four super conferences, SEC, B1G, PAC and ACC.

Could happen. But apparently back in the 80’s the WAC had 16 teams and it was too much to handle but with all the new media platforms it could change.

If the Big 12 gets BYU, Houston, Cincinnati and UCF, they would have a great recruiting pipeline that taps into Big 10 and SEC territory.

They’ve got Texas covered especially with Houston but Ohio and Florida are 2 big recruiting markets to tap.

As for Nebraska, I don’t know what’s wrong there. They are investing in new facilities which will help, but the move to the big 10 fixed them to change recruiting. They used to recruit extensively in Texas but now they have to focus other regions.

It will be interesting to see what happens. They “came back” to almost beat Illinois who has a “new” coach in Brett Bilema, but he had a great tenure at Wisconsin so he’s not really really new to the big 10.

If the play offs expand (and the will) with all the money to be made, the power 5 may stay intact as the PAC 12 said they are not interested in expanding.

But who knows.

I'm a Bama & SEC fan big time. Used to like Michigan until they hired Harbaugh. Can't stand ND. Nothing makes me happier when Bama kicks ND's ass everytime they meet in the playoffs. Not even sure why ND was in the playoffs last year.
Looking forward to see Bama and Miami battle each other this Saturday.

All the top teams from last year have new QB's so that might mix things up a little.

The SEC has their act together and makes sure that their conference has excellent universities that their “football teams can be proud of”.

Notre Dame, whether you like them or not is a money maker and that’s why people will be biased into letting them into the playoffs because they can guarantee a sellout and television ratings even if they lose.

Michigan football was already bad when Harbaugh arrived. When Lloyd Carr retired, Michigan got desperate after losing to OSU and brought in Rich Rodriguez from West Virginia and replaced Michigan’s pro style offence with his spread offence.

You only use a spread offence when you can’t recruit premium talent like what Michigan can easily obtain. West Virginia used that style because they couldn’t get the same kind of players that Michigan used in its pro style offence.

Rodriguez also ruined the Michigan strength and conditioning program - a program that produced Jake Long - The first overall pick on that years NFL draft!

As a result, several pro style Michigan players transferred and their recruiting classes sucked. Michigan has since built a beautiful weight room and new indoor practice facility but Ohio state continues to “own” the conference while MSU has a decent team every 3 or 4 years.

Wisconsin is always strong and Penn State is a perennial threat as long as their coaches don’t bugger kids in the shower. And Iowa is always decent but Nebraska has yet to get its mojo back (I’ve said enough about Nebraska…..for now).

I have a feeling that Alabama will crush Miami this weekend but then again there can always be an upset.

It would be nice to see Miami get its mojo back. They built a beautiful indoor practice facility and upgraded their weight room so maybe they’ll improve if their players stay out of jail.

Oklahoma should also continue to roll. Their offence is always amazing, but if their defence continues to improve and plays like an SEC and not a Big 12 defence, they could be special.

I’m going to shut up for now, but this is great! Chatting about SP’s, SC’s, MPA’s and now college football! Awesome!

If Michigan gets rid of Harbaugh, I predict that they will hire Les Miles.

He’s a former old school Michigan player from the Bo Schembechler era who is available after leaving Kansas for “off the field” issues.

No, Michigan and nobody else will be hiring Les Miles now. Les had to resign from Kansas over sexually harassment that happened at LSU, Les will never get a major college coaching job again and is probably done.
I wanted Les as coach back in the day when they hired that bum Rich Rod instead, the Les Miles ship has long since sailed.

I went 8 for 11 on picking this weekend ATS, including a 3 team parlay with USC, Georgia and UCLA. The biggest ones I got wrong were Wisconsin and Illinois covering their spreads, they both lost out right.

That’s true, especially in this current climate.

You are so right about Bama(yuck), I didn't know why how their new QB would preform. If he continues to play that way, they might as well crown Bama the National Champs now.

Here are some undervalued teams this year, these teams should have good years and might can make you some money.
Va. tech, Iowa, Ole Miss, UCLA, Fresno St, Maryland and Rutgers(don't laugh).

I’m kind of excited about the Big 12 expanding back to 12 teams. Even if the 4 new members aren’t football royalty like Oklahoma and Texas, the 4 new members are still programs on the “rise” who will be interesting to watch.

Central Florida: aka UCF is a rising power and has been investing a lot of money into their facilities. Florida is also a prime recruiting ground. Should be interesting.

Cincinnati: They’ve been a rising power and Ohio is also a prime recruiting area.

Houston: Another Texas school will help with recruiting but also ads a large television market.

BYU: Bringing an independent like BYU will help the conference and they have a very strong fan base.

The addition of these 4 schools may not replace what the conference loses in Oklahoma and Texas, but will help strengthen their television market while strengthening their recruiting base in Texas and expanding recruiting into Florida and into Ohio/Midwest.

It would have been nice if the Big 12 conference brought in a California school like San Diego State which would have made them the only conference to cover both coasts, but it’s nice to see that the conference will return to 12 teams while tapping into several strong recruiting areas.

Although I mainly follow football, it will interesting to see how it will impact other sports.

It will be interesting to see how their new television contract will look like especially with so many new platforms.

Good games so far today...Oregon with a big win over Ohio State...Texas A&M with a late touchdown with their backup QB in to beat Colorado...Michigan and Washington are on now and that’ll be a good game.

Good to see some tight games...too often there are 40 point differences.

Arkansas beating Texas is also a big one! Makes you wonder if Arkansas good or is Texas bad?

I think it's a little of both, but it seems the Razorbacks have really improved. Watch out for Ole Miss, their offense is electric.
I won two bets with Iowa +4.5 vs Iowa St, I had a feeling ISU was overvalued and was right.

Arkansas is definitely on an upswing so it will be interesting to see

Ole Miss could be exciting with Lane Kiffin as their head coach.

I wonder if he’ll try to go back to USC if he has a good season or if they will look elsewhere.

Personally, I think USC really lost out when they didn’t keep Ed Orgeron as their head coach.

Oh no, Lane Kiffin is dead to USC, they will look elsewhere. I agree, USC made the wrong decision on Ed Orgeron.

If Eric Bieniemy doesn't get an NFL head coaching job, I read this is the only college coaching job he would take.
Makes sense, he's from Southern California and USC is top job in College. It's a shame he hasn't been offered a job in the NFL.

Depends who is calling the plays and coming up with a game plan in KC.
Eric may be just running practice while Andy Ried does the game plan and calls all plays. Which is what I would expect.
