I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I have a cat as well and we've been together for 17 years. I'd be devestated if he died because of cat food. My heart truly feels for you.

There will be a class action lawsuit you can bet on that. It won't bring back your kitty but it may help you with your debt problem. My heart goes out to you, its always tough to lose a pet. Especially under circumstances like these. Be well!
No doubt there will be lots of class action law suits, however, the only people to ever get any money out of this is the lawyers.

I am very sorry for your loss. I have a couple of pets myself and they become a part of your family. It`s a very hard thing to cope with their loss.

As far as pet food goes - people, all processed pet food is pure unadulterated crud.

If you value the life of your pet, make him his own dinner yourself out of meat and veggies, no grains, no rice, no carbs. It`s very simple.

Pet food is simply a means of disposing of garbage that otherwise we would have to pay to dispose of. I can`t emphasize this enough.

I did a lot of ranting on the evils of processed pet food here:

Your place!!
So sorry for your loss. Loosing a pet is like having a family member pass away and can be very hard to deal with. So take your time to allow yourself to recover. All The Best.

Hehehe, no shit.

If you died in your bed your pet would not cry for you, it would fucking eat you because you are not able to feed it.

Memo to pet lovers - Animals do not love you. They simply see you as a meal ticket. If someone else comes around and is willing to feed them, they will abandon you without a care in the world.

If you do not believe me, then try this experiment. Stop feeding your pet and have your neighbour feed it. Within a week your cat/dog will be living in your neighbours house.

Loyalty/Love is shot to hell when it comes to being fed.

Hehehehe, the only thing they'll do is come back and shit in your yard!

No, my pet loves me. I can tell. I can see it in her eyes.

Most pet owners would tell you the same thing.

Great pet food to try: Prism or Nutram

Sorry for your loss! I have two special breed cats and I stopped feeding them Iams about a year ago after I heard that their testing systems had some people claiming they were animal cruelty issues.

I use a mix between Prism and Nutram. They are more expensive but well worth the peace of mind. They don't have artifical preservatives or fillers. I've noticed my cats have less furballs and a cleaner litter since switching over. I never use Whiskas, or other cheaper brands because I found the cats develop crystals in their bladder and other problems. There's too much filler in those brands.

Avoid treats like canned tuna because there's too much mercury in it for their little systems to handle. In fact, people are not meant to eat more than one can of tuna a week because of the mercury content, never mind your cats. A dried fish treat or salmon is a better alternative when you want to spoil them.

I only give my cats a little bit of canned food occasionally because my sister in law, who's a Vet in florida warns me that canned food rots their teeth and it gives them that bad fishy breath.

It's so sad to lose a pet. When I've lost a cat I found getting a new kitty (and there are plenty at the Animal Shelters) helped fill that gap and cheer me up.

All the best....

My beautiful kitty passed away this morning she was suffering from kidney faliure and was severly dehydrated, she suffered 3 heart attacks and the last one took her. I had been feeding her Iams and Nutro soft and hard foods. Who would have though a so called high end brand of food would have killed her geesh you think your doing the right thing by your animal and in fact you are not!! During this time I have investigated and found that there are no regulations for pet foods and you have to HAVE TO be soooo careful what you give them!!! I went into a pet store called Global Pet Foods and found they have a great line of natural foods that are not made with all the junk these grocery store brands have I wish I would have known this years ago. I am now broken hearted in debt and PISSED OFF!!! for now I chose to just greive for my little boo but http://www.petitiononline.com/menupay/petition.html that is a link that may help out further with this issue if you dont mind please pass this link on and sign yourself as well, I have already talked with the family and if by chance we do get any settlement from the company ours will be donated to http://peta.org and http://www.freeanimals.org please if you are not or never have been a pet owner try to see this from the hearts of us who are when you have a pet and they are so loyal and loving they become a part of the family and an illness or death is as devestating as a human family member. have a look at the links http://peta.org and http://www.freeanimals.org and if you can donate to them and volunteer or simply pass them on to your friends lets work together to help out all of the living creatures of this world that has been given to us ALL

Amen, Brother! I've had either cats or dogs for my entire life and I have felt the loss when they died or I had them put down. Most recently I had a cat that I had put down because she scratched my 3 year old, once on the arm and then on the face. It hurt but Bye-Bye. The most dificult part was finding a vet to do it. And before you ask, I did try to find another home for her. All of the so-called pet rescue/foster home place had a 6 month waiting list and I wasn't going to take the chance of something worse happening.
And for those of you that may like to wear leather (of any kind) eat a good steak from time to time, or - heaven forbid - fish or hunt DO NOT ever consider giving money or any support to peta.

Nice one.

Did you ever hear of this place called the "Toronto Humane Society"

They'd take your cat rather than having you kill it.

tried them - I live in oakville and they wouldn't take her. Neither would the Oakville humane society. Especially since she had "anti-social behaviour". The humans in my live - my kids - come first!
