Eating very little carbs will cause water loss. I am going to assume you are also taking in fewer calories as opposed to prior to your diet. If you succeed which I suspect you will and reach the 214 and return to your routine pre-diet, you will gain it back.
I agree, the biggest initial drop will come from water due to less carbs and less water being stored. The pounds lost should start to be less as you move forward also as your body adjusts to less calories.

This is the problem. You lose rapidly and then the moment you eat carbs, there is water retention and your weight is back up lol.

Weigh in on day 6 at 219. I was 221.

Keto sticks turn red in urine but can go to deep purple indicating stronger ketosis but seem stuck at same colour.

I feel normal so all seems good but I want the keto sticks to get purple
If you fast your ketones goes up.

Agree with him. 10 first pounds are water only.

This is the reason I dont do keto because eating fat quickly adds up calories and the portion sizes are too low for me which leaves me hungry all day.

I have made fat bombs. Made of the fats like coconut oil for snacks

Water loss probably but ketone sticks keep getting darker which means I keep going deeper into ketosis

I want to go to 200

As I was not gaining weight on my pervious healthy diet I am hoping for same results after diet

Can you source what you said? I lost 25 pounds then gained 5 back then stabilized

Sorry but this Keto diet seems very dangerous to me!!

If you are on diabetic medication that causes low blood sugar, those meds may need to be adjusted within a few days,” Condon says.
“There are heart-healthy sources of fat, however if that person is not educated on heart-healthy sources of fat,
they may consume excessive amounts of saturated fats that can increase your risk of heart disease.”

The 5 could be water weight. But you lose the other 20lbs because of the calorific restriction. Fatty and high protein foods increase satiation and therefore you inevitably end up eating less than you need. But if you eat a LOT of it, then you will still gain weight despite it being keto. So even on keto, you would need portion control. Which is key.

Similarly you can go into ketosis by following a low carb diet, and intermittent fasting too. This is what I do. I feel low carb is a little less restrictive than keto.

Early weight loss is water weight

The glycogen stored in your muscles and liver is bound with water, typically at a ratio of 3 grams of water for each gram of glycogen (6Trusted Source).

When you burn through these stored carbs, this water is excreted in your urine or sweat (6Trusted Source).

As such, after starting keto, you may notice that you have to urinate more often and feel much thirstier than normal. You may also notice large weight losses, which are mostly water-weight losses (6Trusted Source, 7Trusted Source).

Depending on your size and how much water weight you’re carrying, this weight loss can vary. Anecdotally, people report losses within the first week of anywhere from 1 pound (0.5 kg) to 10 or more pounds (5 kg).

The larger you are, the more water weight you’re likely to lose after starting keto. Although, it’s unlikely that much of this initial weight loss is fat loss.

That explains weight loss of 2 pounds a day

It takes a few days to stabilize but I wonder if the water weight comes back while still on diet?
and should I worry if I start gaining 2 pounds a day as water comes back ?

Sounds unlikelky as you burn through these stored carbs, this water is excreted in your urine or sweat
so those few water related pounds will come back as you resume carbs

I was starting to panic LOL

You dont want to worry too much about day to day changes in weight. I weigh 4 lbs less after my workout lol. Day to day weight fluctuates greatly. You want to do week on week averages. So weigh yourself daily, but take into account what you weigh, say every Sunday. And weight yourself at the same time. I usually weigh myself naked, after pooping in the morning. lol.

agree

That is how I do it after poop and naked

Every few days weigh has more meaning than every day

Also, it is more important to keep it off than to lose it

After following this thread out of curiosity, I'm not sorry to say you guys are idiots. Ok, so you're losing weight but you're so adamant about wanting to get your ketone tests to be dark as possible.
To me that tells me you don't know that ketones actually are the bodies way of telling you you're "poisoning" your body by the breakdown and metabolism of fat that can have serious effects on other internal organs unless you flush your system of ketones very quickly. I've dealt with ketones more than a few times over the years and not fun to neutralize them to minimize damage especially to the kidneys and liver and other organs of the body.

BTW, water gain/loss is not dependent on carbs that you may eventually eat. In fact your water gain in most instances is to replace what you've lost as your body pisses it out to get rid of the ketones.

IMO you're better and safer to reduce weight on a balanced calorie reduced diet than this one and a consistent exercise program. This diet, I personally never think is kind of dangerous since weight loss never seems to last and have known more than a few people that almost died doing it. The only ones that I know that did it wisely were in consultation with their doctors while doing it.

That's my 2 cents.

Appreciate your critique.

As you state, this diet can be done with MDs who specialize in this diet and paid by OHIP,

This means keto diet is now accepted by conservative medical establishment as legit.

This is why I am trying it.

Your post reminded me that it is wise to use a MD.

Why not as it is free?

I shall post on this thread what the MD says

I lost 35 lbs and keep it off without a diet of any kind.

I ride my bike 40-50 kms daily all year round. As long as I can see asphalt I ride.

Went to poondiet.com

MD seems like a very good diet specialist

You step on scale with socks off and it tells you weight, BMI, fat content . Amazing scale

We need to meet every 2 weeks

MD said saturated fats , as recommended by most low carb diets, is out of diet. Eat lots of fish for omega 3 fats. Fish oil suppliments are out
as lots of suppliments are corn oil with a little fish oil so they taste like fish

As I started Diet April 29 and I have been in ketosis for 10 days and have lost about 3 pounds of fat but daily measurements are not accurate,
you need weight graph over time

We need to be careful to lose fat not muscle

Lifting weights will stop muscle loss and eating PROTEIN
